Sprint to match Verizon, launch BlackBerry Tour on July 12th
It looks like July 12th will be the launch date for the BlackBerry Tour 9630 for both Verizon and Sprint. While Sprint has not yet issued a press release, they have used the modern equivalent of Paul Revere riding on his horse to spread the message. In other words, they have used their Twitter account to announce that the carrier will match Big Red and release the Tour on Sunday, July 12th for $199.99 after rebate and a 2 year contract.

I'm not a fan of either carrier, but it is good news for you cdma Crackberry addicts. Let's see who sells more in the first week.

Can you say breach of contract!

What contract? It has been planned for both carriers for months.

LOL no one can take a joke around here. What i meant by that statement is that VZW probably had some kind of agreement to release the Tour on 7/12 just like Sprint had an agreenment to release on 7/20. Im just curious why RIM all of sudden changes things to allow sprint the same launch date.

I'm sure Sprint through an offer to Rim to be just as competative. I'm sure they don't care as long as they sell more units.

It does'nt make any sense to me why Verizon is standing by and letting this happen.

Right, because Verizon has complete control over what RIM does...

7. MikeG77 posted on 01 Jul 2009, 20:01

LOL of course they dont.

Obviously Verizon didn't have a contract with RIM that prevented Sprint from releasing the phone the same day. I don't see why this is so complicated.
