Sprint strikes back with the HTC EVO 3D

When HTC talked about its future products, it always said that 3D is among the things the manufacturer is considering. Today is the day when those intentions materialized for the greater public and the greater good...

Will this phone along with the Nexus S be enough for Sprint to stay competitive in this wireless market dominated by ATT and Big Red? The difference is that Sprint appears to be the carrier with "hands down" the best Android phones but void of the iPhone! Only time will tell...

have you seen Big Red's upcoming lineup? aside from the Droid Bionic with its dual core, everything else is the same thing that's out now with slightly stronger processors and 4G. talk about getting stale. i'm on VZW now and am even thinking of switching to Sprint for this phone.

Yeah and as soon as you switch to this phone Verizon will come out with something better. Seems to always happen.

Verizon wont be coming out with nothing better than this in 2011 that's for sure. There currently released Thunderdud is exactly that a dud and there Droid Bionic is what 512 of ram that is last years specs..There Stealth 4g is nothing compared to this neither is there Incredible 2 so you tell me what's left????? REGARDLESS of this claim of LTE there is so much problems with this thunderdud network troubles, switching problems from LTE to 3G, battery issues galory, but yeah verizon will HIDE THOSE DETAILS NOW WON'T THEY. Not this year for verizon as far as there products they WILL NEVER HAVE ANYTHING BETTER THAN SPRINT FOR A DEVICE.

My only question is when does the phone go on sale? And hopefully, Sprint/HTC doesn't dole out the phones in 1s and 2s.

seems like the evo is the sprint's version if an iphone device... they make a new evo each year, they make an evo pad, and they support it with heavy marketing and keep virtually all equal or better phones off of their network... nice sprint... but the thing is people will say iphone and it will take some major convincing to get them to say evo...

It's no different that Verizon's "Droid" line-up. They've just taken a popular name and used it to create a brand awareness that unique to a single carrier. T-Mobile has apparently done the same thing with both the G1/G2/G2x and the MyTouch series.

NOBODY ON SPRINT OR IN THE INDUSTRY ASSOICIATES THE HTC EVO 4G WITH THE IPHONE....It is and has been better than any iphone made...The Htc Evo 4g lead the way in 4g techonolgy for android and sprint lead the way in 4g technogoly for all carriers back in 2010...Your current iphone4 WAS NOT BETTER THAN THE EVO 4G and your New Iphone 5 regardless of being on Ass t&t or Verizon WILL NEVER BE BETTER THAN THIS HTC EVO 3D...Apple should worry about making better products INSTEAD OF SUING EVERYBODY AT EVERY TURN

You really love the EVO...(even tho this phone is a mere refresh to the original with 3D added). I'm not impressed. Looks like every other HTC out there and i'm sure the batt. life is going to suck like all the other 4.3" HTC's out there. My girl has an EVO and she gets 4 hours tops on batt. and she's not even techy like that. So bringing up batt. issues on the Thunderbolt is useless. Its not a Verizon thing...its an HTC thing and soon you'll see its an HTC EVO 3D thing. next brand please...

Idk about the thunderbolt but I know the evo can in fact get great battery life. I use it a lot including games such as x-plane and i still get a full day no problem with the stock battery.

I think Sprint will be fine with their expanding EVO line. For people who don't want Android, they'll offer WP7. As a smaller player, they're better off pushing a handful of top-notch devices than chasing the "something for everyone" strategy of Verizon and ATT.

I like what Sprint is doing in which they are building a Sprint Exlcusive Phone lineup in the EVO!!! As long as they maintain the best prices in wireless we should be fine over here in the "BLACK AND YELLOW, BLACK AND YELLOW, BLACK AND YELLOW, BLACK AND YELLOW!!!!"

And will slaughter all the other devices on the market...yes including the atrix4g, samsung galaxy s2, everybody..

Dual core, qHD display, Android 2.3, WiMax, Front facing 1.3 camera, rear 3D camera and Full HD video! Oh yeah, the iPhone's just got it all over this phone. I feel pretty confident in saying that unless it's got an Apple logo on the back, you'll always consider it a phone to be second rate. Which is why your opinion is pretty much invalid.

Sprint had us worried thinking the Echo was it's new flagship, didn't they? Nice addition- I am not really ga-ga over the whole 3-D hook, but this is a nice looking phone. And if you are up on the 3-D craze, who out there doesn't trust HTC instead of LG?

I made a mistake & got a Samsung Epic 4G. I know spare me the pain! Anyway I really wanted an EVO 4G but it was sold out. I have had the Epic ball & chain for way too long. I am going to buy the EVO 3D @ full price just to get away from Samsung. The EVO View 4G looks good, but I will get the Motorola XOOM. I need dual cores only. I don't get why anyone will drop a "high end device" with only a single core? I think it's a mistake HTC is doing with the EVO View 4G.

Can't wait. Only one questions though....WHERE IS THE KICKSTAND?!? I love watching my EVO 4G while I eat lunch at my desk. That is the only downside. Hopefully there will be a phone cover that can incorporate a kickstand into their design....huh...kickstand, at first awkward, but then loved. You will be missed!!

Specs for the 3D are already available on PhoneArena to compare with other phones. When compared to the EVO 4G, it's a little taller, same width, and thinner. Same weight. Camera resolution has gone down from 8 to 5 megapixels. Battery capacity has increased from 1500mAh on the EVO 4G to 1730mAh on the Evo 3D. But the battery increase pales to Atrix 4G's 1930mAh (the other phone I'm considering should it come to Sprint).

Well Sprint has done it again. The EVO 4g was/is a better phone than the iPhone 4, and the EVO 3D will be better than the iPhone 5. Can you imagine if this thing were available on Verizon and AT&T. It would be king. Thank goodness Android has more than one phone to choose from though.

I am with a lot of people, this phone is great but I really wanted a kickstand. The kickstand is what was the Evo's signature besides the 4g. I was hoping for a manly kickstand like the Thunderbolt's that can allow you to stand the phone in portrait or landscape mode.

Sprint has already confirmed that they will be offering a case with a kickstand, I don't know if that's going change anything, but as long as my phone is protected and I have a kickstand, then im all in, but its all personal preference, and you shouldnt miss on this phone because its missing a feature that wasnt its greatest feature.

I'm disappointed with this release from Sprint. The idea of 3D is fun, but the application is lack luster. I don't understand why Sprint thinks that 3D will appeal to the "large" consumer base, especially when companies are having a hard time moving their 3D televisions. They did a great job with getting a phone with a great display and processor speed, but the phone falls short in other categories. Since most people wont be using the stereoscopic lenses (together), you're reduced to using a 5 megapixel camera, instead of the 8 megapixel which is now becoming standard.

I think they see this as a progression, but I see it as a waste of money. I haven't seen pricing on this phone yet, but I'm assuming it will be around $250. Since the smart phone average is $200, you're paying $50 for a piece of technology most of the consumers wont use, which resulted in a downgraded camera.

Just give me something slim, quick, and great looking Sprint. Bring on the Atrix or a phone that matches the size and stats.

PS. Stop providing so many slide out keyboards as the only option. I would love to try the WP7, but dont want to be carrying around a brick in my pocket.

It would be sooo great! ... But it's not thin... The battery is gonna be just like the original evo... iPhone has got the edge... Design will be way smoother.
I would absolutely get this phone if they modified those two specs.
