The Sprint iPhone 4S 3G speed flaw has spawned a long thread on the carrier's online community web page. However, Sprint is having troubles solving it as it is challenged with replicating the issue...

That data speed seems normal to me. I never get above 200kbps on my EVO 4G. I feel sorry for those 'tricked' into buying an iPhone 4S on Sprint, but nothing unexpected iphoners are usually gullible.
Sprint is still somewhat disappointing these days though, apart from the prices/value. No more expansion of WiMAX 4G, only the SGS Epic Touch offering for Android or you'll have to go back as far as the EVO 3D for a top phone and so on. I won't bother upgrading my contract til I see what they are doing next summer.

I agree sprint is disappointing now, they starting the year off good and have completely fisseled out which pisses me off because I'm due for an upgrade from my Epic 4G(original) with nothing to upgrade to. Sprint has released 3 dual-core phones this whole year(SGSII, Photon, Evo 3D), a refreshed iPhone, and no WP7 phones(which I dont care) that about sums their year up. That's pretty lame. Plus WiMax sucks because its not in my area.
VZW, TMO and ATT are firing off new devices daily it seems from high to low end while sprint sits idle and watches.

sprint had most of the bigger releases early this year, then probably focused most of their assets on acquiring the iphone. Could be why they're not picking up anything new as of late. 3g for them has always been very slow, as their ev-do is piggybacked off verizon's fairly slow 3g as well.

That's not smart, no other company has put all their eggs in one basket with the iphone. Att hasn't, VZW doesn't even mention the iphone really, TMO was smart to stay away from it I guess. But sprint has mortgaged the whole company for just to say we have a iphone with 2g speeds.

threeline... You are right!!! Sprint sank so much of their money into the $15+ billion iPhone deal with Apple, that they will be hard pressed to iron out as many deals with other manufacturers due to a lack of liquid assets.
What a friggin gamble they took... Lol

If the iPhone sinks Sprint. It'll probably be the end of the iPhone too. (I technically do not think either will happen) But, I think it was stupid for Sprint and Verizon to start selling a phone that every day is more and more considered a toy. Advice to iPhone owners, if you are on a job interview, and if you are college educated, DO NOT whip out your iPhone. Interviewers will assume you lack maturity.

its always been like this with sprint with i evo 4g and evo 3d still the same, 1 bar at my apartment but 4g on the other side of the street its messed up and sprint does not care, i know they are releasing LTE ADVANCE next year but someone may have made a mistake and put the ADVANCE in not knowing what it means.
please sprint speed up the service and boost signal for gods sake we dont like paying $80 to $100 for super slow 3g and wimax that equals att and verizon 3g, its just sad.

What is this person talking about ? The Epic,Photon and EVO 3d phones are great offerings!! Even the new EVO design is a good phone. I get fast data speeds in the cities I'm in so no complaints. With the switch to LTE, the future looks promising. They should have never gone the Wimax route!!

On any given network, iphones users seem to be all riled up about one issue after another. Good grief! Just get a proper phone and use it.

I have had no problems with my iphone 4s my 3g speed is alot better on the iphone 4s than it was on the epic touch. I am so glad i went back to IOS!

Sprints network never was strong to begin with (speaking soley about nyc,nj coverage) and it doesn't help with all the issues ios5 is having.

Sprints 3G speeds are fine in a 4-5 bar area but 2 bars and its pretty sure useles
Sprints network really struggles on buildings. Even when Verizon's bars are only at 1 the data speeds still are ok and go through. I have seen it take 6 minutes just to load Facebook mobile on sprint's 3G network.

I agree with you...
The explanation is more related to the actual frequencies of the carriers. The lower your frequency on the spectrum, the more easily your signal can permeate through concrete, metal and structures. The higher the frequency, you are less able to use the device in buildings and apartments.
Verizon has the lower end of the spectrum and Sprint has the higher end of it. No matter what they try, that fact remains the same and it's kind of a default situation.

Siri, why is the iPhone 4G so slow on Sprint (or should I say Speedealk?)?
10. threeline (Posts: 230; Member since: 11 Sep 2011)
Because it's missing a "G" bein its only 3G! It's a G thang!(Snoop Dogg Siri voice)

The slow down is due to all the 'tracking' through the network apple is doing to its islaves. The easily solution to this is get rid of there islave device, however public confusion would arise with thousands of zombie state people will be seen in the streets holding wallets of cash in the air, drooling from the lips and mumbling in a zombie like fashion.........mmmmmmmm.....iphone.......mmmmmmm........we need iphone

Why is the article title 4S speed issue when it then says the problem is sprint's network and not the iPhone? Misleading title. Did that guy say he's getting 200kbps on a 4G device? That's terrible.
Only T-Mobile has a worse network.

I don't have an iPhone4S, but my 3g data speeds are incredibly slow. Please find a fix to this, Sprint!
