The Android 2.2 update is being rolled out right now on demand, and it will also fix the LED flash for you...

All I was waiting for was the bluetooth voice dialing, but thanks for throwing in the extras. I'll wait to see how well the update goes before I consider the purchase though. Good to see the support is not lacking with this phone, though.

"HTC is also pushing out some more widgets and social networking add-ons like status updates integration with the phone book, and syncing the Facebook calendar events to the phone's default one." :s my EVO has already been doing that.. that's not something new it is doing, the first thing my calendar did was pull events from facebook and added it to my calendar widget. And the phonebook(people) has always shown numbers in a green circle if I linked their facebook profile to the contact and they posted updates. but anywaayyyyy... FROYO Finally!!! I've been enjoying it on the N1 but without the Sense UI but now on the EVO I shall enjoy it's functionality even more. EVO should be without a doubt the best Android device out now once the update rolls out (imo at least)

Has anyone else noticed that everytime android phones get an update they fix things and everytime apple comes out with an update it makes things worse?

Lets hope it doesn't add dialer lag and other bugs like 2.1 did to our Heros!

Just to let you know, not all of us Evo users are able to get the update yet. I tried to manually do it and it told me there were no updates available.

Its because the update isn't rolling out until next tuesday

For the full list have a look at the feature slides, and the best part is that you can download the update on demand right now instead of waiting for HTC's notification. Just go to the Settings Menu > System Updates > HTC Software Update and initiate the process manually. That states you can do it right now... but you cant... at least i cant..

"the best part is that you can download the update on demand right now instead of waiting for HTC's notification. Just go to the Settings Menu > System Updates > HTC Software Update and initiate the process manually." It is not on demand. Read the whole thing.

its rolling out on the Aug 3rd in phases up till mid Aug but if u don't want to wait to get notified after Aug 3rd u can manually update

Actually, you no longer can Manually update your phone via the HTC servers. The update was pulled after it was leaked.

I've enjoyed free 4G wireless tethering since the June 4 launch. I noticed that under "Fixes" on the last Sprint Froyo update image that it reads "4G MACID Verification Enabled. This will prevent 4G Hotspot usage withouth the HOTSPOT SOC". Another website indicated this meant no more free 4G wireless tethering. If so, is sacrificing free 4G tethering in order to get Froyo a good trade-off?

Its for the cheap people that wont pay $30 for 4g unlimited tethering. $110 for unlimited + tethering and 4g is impossible to find else where anyways. Gotta be able to make money right?

Yeah, I'd like to know, too, if it's worth it to upgrade if I'll have to pay $360/yr (wireless tether) for what is free now.

Managed to find the update.zip package stored on another server and did a manual update. Froyo is running sweet on my Evo

where can i get that, and how do i use it

It is not the final release, if you wait till Tuesday you can get the final release of the software. (Don't want to be responsible for something happening if your update goes wrong.) However, if you use Google and do a search for Evo Froyo Update you can find the information you seek.
