Today also gives us the Froyo update for the Samsung Transform, a phone that needed 2.2 as badly as the damn Epic did. Did PhoneArena purposely omit that? The 3 updates were all announced together, wow.

SprintID on the Epic? Not happy about that. I hope they fix the regular 2.2 and push that back out. I don't appreciate unecessary bloat on my phone.. SprintID takes a powerful phone and kidifies it, I can go on the market and download apps myself thankyouverymuch... In fact, I'd rather it be vanilla Android. I don't need Nascar or Asphalt 5 or a "Free HD Game" icon everpresent on my phone either...

The funny thing is if you dont like having the preloaded apps on your phone there are plent of home replacements that should go ahead and resolve the issue for you regarding the extra icons

But I shouldn't have to get another app to "hide" the apps I don't want in the first place. I have rooted it in the past to delete the stuff I didn't want and that made me have to hard wipe the phone to put the upgrade on it... It's a pain either way. And SprintID isn't an app it is a complete overlay. Like TouchWiz or TouchSense. Just more bloatware.

My only other thing is if the Epic Gets 2.2 that would mean that the only deviec left ( mine ) The fascinate would be the only one needing 2.2 .......

@ Goofy...it is true. I read it on Sprint's website as well as Android's website that the updates were going out today.

Nice that they were supposed to "notify us" when the update was going to become available...I didn't get any notice...and it seems no one else did either. I had to find out the way the rest of us did...by continually checking every friggin website about cellphones to see if there has been any word on it. If that is the notification that they were supposed to be sending out then it failed...badly....and someone needs a lesson in customer service!!

Wonder and hope that this will bring the option to have predictive text while using the physical keyboard.

Isn't this an old story that has somehow been recycled? This was a while ago.

Didn't get the OTA update so I went to Sprints website and went to the forums. They have the file listed there on page 12 for the downloadable file, Downloaded it and had to log into a couple of things, but other than that, it works perfectly. no problems. Thank you for posting the update online!! And for those that aren't as tech savvy, like me, i will repost the directions...

download link from phone

Open my files in app drawer after complete

Rename file to update

Then move file to root of sd

(Hold file select move)

at bottom of screen press move here

Once moved turn off phone

Then reboot into recovery by holding

vol down, camera, and power

Select update zip using vol keys to scroll

use home button to select

Enjoy!!!

Dowload useing 4g

Took me 10 min total

Added info: From what I understand, this only works for DI18 build, not the EC13 build.

Sorry about that....the link isn't copying correctly. There is no space between the "DI18" and the "ToEC05.zip" ...

Oh and I just got a message through SprintZone, apparently you can "turn off" SprintID in order to just use it as a regular Epic 2.2 experience.http://sprint.us/sites/sprint_zone/sprint_id/epic.php
