Sprint halts Palm Pre telesales starting July 6
PreCentral has received a tip from a Sprint insider who reports that the Palm Pre will no longer be offered through their telesales division. It's a bit ironic because it was not offered during launch and then became available starting on June 24. Sprint's internal system is informing everyone that it is puling it off from telesales starting July 6. It could possibly related to stock levels which is probably the reason behind the change. So if you don't plan on heading to retail stores that offer the Pre, you'd better get on that phone call before it's too late. Another possible motive is that stores are just not getting the adequate stock amount or that there is an extreme demand. For both Palm and Sprint, we'd gather it would be the latter.

I've heard many people say the hardware on this phone is crap. Sounds like the UI is going over amazing but the phone itself is junk...

go look at one yourself... I think it is cool and looks "snazzy". I think it feels really solid, unlike the VZW touchPro which feels cheap and flimsy. I think they stopped telesales becuase they sale to everyone instead of people who actually need it.

Yup...your right...I work for a Sprint retail store and half of the people getting don't even need or don't know what it does so they end up returning it...plus most customer care reps are a bunch of idiots, they don't know what they're selling to anyone.

seriously! i hate it when someone tries to buy a phone, a blackberry, a palm or an instinct and they cant even use, they end up returning it or canceling all together!

I've heard from many people that it causes global warming and is made from the tears of third world children

Odd, you'd think if inventories were low, they'd cut out the retail channels first. Lower commission on telesales, lower shipping costs, etc.

BUT HIGHER RETURN COSTS! If you return a phone it is no longer new and sprint loses the $600 basically form the device and cannot resell it as new.

Right...I actually had a 65 yr old man wanting to buy it...first he did not even have an email (which you need to activate a pre) I had to setup an email for him and sit down and explain what the phone does. I kept telling him ''its not for you" what happened 30 min later after he bought it....he came back and returned it....$549.99 lost like that!

I MUST AGREE, I HAVE HAD PEOPLE WANT A BLACKBERRY BECAUSE OF THE KEYBOARD AND THE STYLE OF THE PHONE YET THEY TELL ME THEY JUST WANT IT TO MAKE CALLS, NO TEXT OR DATA. I AM LIKE SO WHY THE F**K YOU WANT A SMARTPHONE YOU KNOW . ITS JUST A WAIST, CUSTOMERS NEED TO KNOW THERE LIMITS. THEN THEY BITCH ABOUT THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE TO BE IN A CONTRACT FOR BUYING A 500.00 PHONE FOR 100.00 BUCKS. PEOPLE ARE FUNNY THOUGH,I HAD SOMEONE PORT TO ATT FOR THE IPHONE, WEEK LATER THEY PORTED BACK TO SPRINT BECAUSE THEY JUST DID NOT KNOW HOW TO USE IT. ALL THEY NEED IS A BASIC PHONE OR SOMETHING THAT JUST HAS A KEYBOARD BUT NOT A SMARTPHONE.

if sprint was smart they'd pull it from telesales, to cut down on returns of customers who dont know how to use the phone because of no ready now training... Everyone I work with has had customers return this phone, myself I havent. I've carried palm phones sense day one, and If I can tell by your interaction this phone isnt for you Im gonna let you know it... I've seen to many returns saying "customer doesnt need features of this phone"
