Sprint giving you $100 trade-in credit towards a new iPhone 4S
Here’s a juicy rumor that might make you wait a couple of days if you plan on getting a Sprint iPhone 4S - beginning May 18th, Sprint will offer at least a $100 trade-in credit for iPhones traded for an iPhone 4S. It’s not official yet, but TechnoBuffalo’s got a trusted source and a promo image to back that up, so it seems more likely to happen than not.

This will allow you to easily trade in your old say iPhone 3G or 3GS for the brand new 4S, and of course you’d need to sign into another 2-year agreement. The offer is said to end on June 30th. That’s a good incentive to buy an iPhone on Sprint now, isn’t it?

Yet another brilliant business decision by Sprint.

I can't fathom how they expect to make money on this deal unless Apple's paying them a bounty for those iPhones, or they have a deal with a third party reseller who will be paying handsomely for the iPhones.

They are hoping to resell them on Ebay through a 3rd party more than likely. Also, since all those phones have to be from ATT and VZW, they will all be happy new lines. Then they just have to screw them down to keeping that new iphone for 3 years so they can profit.. :)

Maybe trying to get rid of stock knowing the Iphone 5 or Iphone 4S+ is coming out soon? Who knows.

They just finded out, that they have too big stock of iPhone 4s compared to current sales volume.

Who want's to buy iPhone 4s now, when a new model is coming anyway and there are a lot of other good choices around?

Most of these companies are working with a third party trade in company so they usually are not losing any money. They are most likely paid the trade in amount plus the cost of shipping by the trade in company and then that company will inspect and refurbish as needed. After that, they sell for a profit and Sprint just got a bunch of new customers. It is a win-win.
