Sprint blocks out vacation days for a major phone announcement

Sprint blocks out vacation days for a major phone announcement
Every year before the Apple iPhone would launch, we would get word that AT&T had prevented employees from taking a vacation during certain days, one of which was usually the day that the latest version of Apple's touchscreen phone would be released. With Sprint expected to be a recipient of the next-gen iPhone, it should come as no surprise that the nation's third largest carrier is apparently blacking out some days when Sprint employees will not be allowed to take a vacation. And no, we don't think for a moment that this is related to the now delayed launch of the BlackBerry Curve 9350 that we told you about earlier today.

According to this memo, the Apple iPhone 5 will launch in early October

According to this memo, the Apple iPhone 5 will launch in early October

The information about the blacked out dates comes from a leaked screenshot of an internal memo meant for Sprint employees. The dates being blacked out are September 30 through October 15th and the rumors of an early October launch of the Apple iPhone 5 certainly fits within those dates. Hopefully, Sprint reps won't be too cranky to handle the inevitable rush of store traffic that an iPhone launch usually produces. As we reported, Best Buy is expected to soon take pre-orders for the Sprint variant of the next-gen Apple iPhone.

Let's see how I can make my own Android phone.

1. eat a beef bean burrito with extra cheese

2. Go to the bathroom

3. Poop out a extra long turd

4. Put it in a box and call it an Android phone.

go to the bathroom,

poop out a small 3.5inch turd,

put an apple sticker and call it iphone?

ooh and trow a little shiny glass and call it retina.

Hey i had the craziest dream last night.. it was about Coleco Telstar video game system.. in my dream Coleco started sueing every new video game system for copying.. in the dream the first law suit was against nintendo, for using similar round input buttons on their controllers to interact with onscreen objects.. next they sued sega for using removable game ram "cartridge" system.. sued sony for creating a system that hooked up to a television to display content.. it was such a nightmare.. it was crazy instead of focused on creating the great game i know and love in the wakeing world everyone was just spending all their time and money on law suits... the dream was also filled with coleco followers, which cared not for innovation but acted like grade preschoolers that cried every time someone copied them walking, blinking, breathing, having a heart beat, eating.. etc just cuz they did it first..

like i said crazy dream hu..

I said about a month ago that people should buy sprint stock now and it would boom in the near future. Not because the iPhone is the greatest phone, but because of the immense following it has. This could help sprint up out of their grave and bring their stock prices above $4 a share. Any investors with a spare couple grand, buy now.

Ok, that is not the Sprint logo and that is not what an email would have looked like if it were real. Also, there is no such thing as "Sprint Feed".

This blackout must be for retail employees. Im a Lead in a call center for Sprint internal, and I have three days off in that timeframe lol.

Not an apple fan, been around Android since the launch of the G1, Nexus, and OG Moto Droid. Ben programming too. I own the Nexus S and couldn't be happier. Both Operating systems are fantastic, in my opinion they each have their strengths and weknesses. I personally will not be getting an iPhone because it does not do evertyhing I need it too. Also, you'll never catch me programming in Objective C. Java and open-source SDK all the way baby!

I am excited about the Epic 4g Touch though. (It's a glaxys S II, why they changed the name i'll never know)

Hardware wise it will knowck the socks off the iPhone, but only time will tell to see which phone sells more.

Honestly I have no idea why anyone would want an iPhone. Tell me something it does that an android phone doesn't do.

People don't even know what the iPhone does, all they know is that it's made by apple and that they want it because it's an iPhone. A customer came in with his daughter asking for the iPhone and I ask her what she likes about it and her response is that it's an iPhone. She doesn't even want to look at any android phone because it doesn't have an "i" in front of the name. Give me a break. What really shows that people are going just for the name, is when Hispanics come in asking for it. They can hardly speak a lick of english, but they still ask for the apple telefono, not even an iPhone just the apple phone.

By the way that email is in no way a Sprint email sent to employees. There are no emails or internal documents that say Sprint Feed on them. The Playbook is the way Sprint spreads the words to employees about new or upcoming devices. Sprint always blacks out dates for vacation starting from October to January for the upcoming holidays. It happened last year too and no iPhone came out.

This is interesting, I have worked for sprint for years and still think this is funny. We do not use anything called sprint feeds. Everything is communicated in a usual email. And just to see if I missed anything I requested 10/2 until 10/10 off today and out was approved. And yes, I work in sales and am a corporate employee, not a 3rd party store. But if this rumor keeps you happy knock yourself out.
