0. phoneArena posted on 16 Nov 2012, 16:10

On Thursday, Sprint asked the FCC for approval to sell 70% of the company to Japan's Softbank for $20 billion; the FCC needs to sign off on the transfer of Sprint's spectrum and its stake in wireless provider Clearwire to Softbank...

I agree. Sprint having too much spectrum is madness, obviously AT&T is the only worthy carrier! It will surely help it emphasize the hell out of being "the nation's largest 4G network" even more!

This acquisition is going to be approved because it doesn't affect domestic competition in the way AT&T's [failed] acquisition of T-Mo. would have, whether AT&T whines about it because it's blind to it or not doesn't matter.

Sprint having too much spectrum? Since when? They are turning over control to the Japanese firm for 8 Billion, Sprint won't be gaining any spectrum just money since they shelled out 15Billion for the iPhone deal.

Are you having schizophrenic issues your first statement is the polar opposite of the latter...you feeling ok mate?

I was sure the exclamation points would be a dead giveaway.

You guys are forgetting that sprint owns half of CLWR. CLWR more aval spectrum than all the companies combined. CLWR is a gold mine and a undervalued stock.

data wise yes...but i think they have the BEST phone selection out of all the major U.S carriers hands down

Agreed... Seriously what happened to them.. I have two friends stuck n there crap network...

Again, you are all missing the point - comprehension is a wonderful thing. AT&T is concerned that a FOREIGN company would have a lot of control over U.S. spectrum (and that being of Sprint's spectrum) - they are not complaining about how much spectrum Sprint has. Again, AT&T, supposedly, is concerned over a foreign country having control of too much U.S. spectrum.

Or it's using it as a front to the actual reason it opposes the acquisition which is that it's butthurt and doesn't want Sprint to have any possibility of becoming the nation's 2nd largest carrier. I doubt AT&T would lose the #2 spot despite the acquisition happening anyway. Better safe than sorry though.

Oh AT&T's gonna loose that #2 spot once this is all done with.

11. networkdood posted on 16 Nov 2012, 23:06 1 1

ummm, this has nothing to do with subscriber numbers - Sprint is not gaining any U.S. subscribers in the deal...just change of ownership...

Don't be silly..

we all know that is not the reason. VZW 45% own my Vodafone. Tmobile 100%

Still not sure how I feel about this as a Sprint customer. They need money to build out their network. I totally agree, I mean how could you not! But is this a good was to go? Not sure. But it might be the only way to get it done.

Sprint's network just plain sucks period. Network vision is a joke and I'm pretty sure once their LTE upgrade is done it will be the slowest and most unreliable of the Big 3 just like WiMax was and TMO's network will still be faster. I can't wait until my contract is up. Sprint has nice phones but they are unusable on that POS network. I know some of you will get offended like I'm talking about your grandma but get over it. Been a customer for 11 years and this last 5 or 6 have been brutal.

Nice knowing you. Let us know how you enjoy the higher rates and capped data at ATT or VZW.

18. papss posted on 20 Nov 2012, 10:22

Better than being on a s**t network.. VZN and AT&T crush sprint regardless of rates. You pay for what you get
