Sprint and four cable companies form joint venture
Sprint, Comcast, Time Warner, Cox and Advance/Newhouse have entered a $200 million 20 year joint venture. According to the agreement, the companies will work together to offer consumers four element bundle - video, wireless voice and data services, high speed Internet and cable phone service. The companies will also work to create and introduce co-branded products and services, which will be marketed and sold through Sprint and RadioShack Retail Stores. Customers using the converged services will be able to seamlessly interface between email, home and mobile voicemail, Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) and photo programs.
In addition, the five companies will explore the possibility to utilize Sprint's Broadband Radio Spectrum (2.5 GHz) and deploy high speed wireless broadband solutions such as WiMax
