Sprint CFO expects Pre shortages; no change with iPhone release
Now in the midst of the ongoing battle between rivals, Sprint's CFO expects shortages in steady Pre units while the iPhone 3G S release is not a concern. The summer is here and two of the most hyped phones are dueling it out to see who will reign supreme after the dust has settled. In the words of Sprint CFO, Bob Brust, “We still have a backlog of subscribers but it's not unmanageable and we get shipments every week.” Further reassurance were made during a webcast for an investor conference that shipments are increasing every week to catch up with the demand of their premier smart phone. Although Apple reported a head turning 1 million units sold during their first weekend versus the Pre's fifty thousand, Brust states that Sprint is not hurt at all. Time will tell the true story once quarterly earnings are released by the two carriers.

The numbers speak for themselves: 1,000,000 iPhones 50,000 Pres The best the Pre can do for Sprint is reduce their net losses. This company is bleeding more customers than they are gaining.

The iPhone is just too widely used....too many kids and older people using it. At least the Pre is something new....has that appeal like the first gen iphone

im sure if palm produced 1,000,000 pre's first week sales # would be much higher. A good amount of people held off on going to get one first day because best buy's leaked inventory list scared people into thinking that stores would have 10 phones max.
