Sprint CEO says that most Note 7 customers are switching to a Galaxy S7
According to Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure, most customers who return their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 units are opting to replace their phone with other Samsung Galaxy models.
This statement contradicts the findings of a previous survey claiming that 40% of respondents stated that they will never purchase another Samsung smartphone as well as a statement from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said that half of Note 7 customers will switch to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus.
In a conference call with reporters earlier today, Claure said:
“Most of them are basically switching to a Galaxy S7.”
The fact that the majority of Galaxy Note 7 customers on Sprint have decided to stick with Samsung can only come as a relief for Samsung (although a slight one), which has been going through some rough times following the unprecedented second recall and discontinuation of the Galaxy Note 7. Based on this report, it looks like Samsung's decision to offer a $100 discount to Galaxy Note 7 customers who opt to replace their handset for another Samsung smartphone is showing signs of efficiency.
Claure also stated that customers "begrudgingly gave back their Note 7". This correlates well with reports claiming that many Note 7 customers are still holding on to their phablets despite the fact that the model is now considered a fire hazard.
