Last week we had IFA 2013, where Sony unveiled its new flagship, the Xperia Z1, while Samsung introduced the third iteration of its phablet series - the Note 3. As hot as these device are, though, there's a phone that can easily steal any other handset's thunder, and that's the iPhone. With today's introduction of the colorful iPhone 5C and the flagship iPhone 5S, Apple has once again turned the spotlight in its direction...

Youll think otherwise when the benchmarks are released.

And the author left out connectivity in which the iPhone is owned by Z1 and Note 3...

iPhone still lacks NFC and...

Z1 has MHL, WiFi ac, Miracast, DLNA, MSC... along the regular stuffs

Note 3 has MHL, WiFi ac, DLNA, infrared... along with regular stuff

The iphone doesn't even have NFC in its system yet they patented it.

Based on size, I would get the 5S. Based on specs and software, I would get the Note 3. Z1... Meh.

Z1 has the best camera on the Android front. Period.

Yeah, but the camera doesn't make the phone, any hardcore Nokia fanboy would completely deny that though. I don't like Sony's designs that much, and their software isn't all that great. Plus the bezels are rather large, even if it does have something to do with the water proofing of the device, I don't care for it. Sony devices lately just haven't been appealing to me.

You basically summed up what I've been saying for the past few months about Sony. Everything was literally spot on.

+1

If you want to talk about HUGE BEZELS, lets just stop at any iPhone. Its the King of Bezels. PERIOD! Those bezels are just massive. The Moto X is the same size as the iPhone but its got a real screen at 4.7 inchs. I dont like Sony phone much either, but they\'re primo high quality devices with great cameras. Thats starting to sound like the iphone! Not good for Apple-they took a Nap and just give us the same phone with minor improvements!

The iPhone may have moderate bezels on it, but it has a small screen, so it's still manageable. The newer Xperia devices not only have large bezels, but also large displays, making them very unwieldy.

Also, the Moto X and iPhone 5/5S are NOT the same size, the Moto X is more than .2" bigger in both height and width.

The iPhone 5S was the biggest "S" improvement in all of Apple history. Double CPU and GPU power (plus OpenGL ES 3.0 capable), double the RAM, fingerprint scanner, and majorly improved camera (mostly in low light). Plus it came with the release of the biggest change to iOS in 6 years. This is the biggest step forward Apple has ever taken.

Well I actually agree with this comment, though I do like Sony's design and they have a lot of variety while keeping their own signature...

this iPhone is the greatest leap that Apple has taken yet... but is still behind the competition in terms of features and specs (this is what the article is about)

Well, it probably won't be behind in specs. We haven't seen any benchmarks yet, but they have caught up with all modern flagships (except the Note 3) in RAM. Double the GPU performance would put it well over the Adreno 320, which is used by many flagships, and it may come close to Adreno 330 scores. Same for the CPU, double the performance would put it about on par (maybe slightly ahead) of Snapdragon 600 powered devices. All of that power running iOS, you can guarantee this will be absolutely lag free.

As for screen resolution, it's not the super high res panels on the One or GS4, but that just means better performance. If it's going to surpass the Adreno 320 in performance, having a sub-720p panel will make it run everything perfectly; my Droid Mini (720p, Adreno 320) already runs all the games on the Play Store perfectly (at least the ones I have). As long as it's over 300 ppi it shouldn't bother anyone.

iOS 7 is still lacking features, but that can only improve with time. I have faith in Apple now, they brought a very good hardware upgrade to the 5 and actually CHANGED iOS. Apple is under new management and a new software designer, but you have to give it about 2 years for them to have complete control over the company, Steve Jobs was always planning ahead. I expect the iPhone 6 to be a huge change.

Design - iPhone 5S
Camera - Z1
Features - Note 3
Battery Life - Note 3
Display - user preference
Overall winner? Note 3/Z1 (user dependent)

Not even in design the same old one since the 4 was released jst stretched a bit, hope the Z1 mini will feature the same specs as the original Z1.

The 4 had stainless steel and glass in the back so no, ot the same design, the 5 is the same tough, just different colors, things did get an upgrade, in camera, flash, fingerprint sensor, thats about it when it comes to hardware, anything else we already knew, which was the software changes announced 3 months ago. The Z1 is a great device, dont know when it will hit US shores, the locked version is kind of pricy, at least the one from negrielectronics, and is for pre-order, will have to wait and see what happens.

Galaxy Note 3 wins on every spec level.
PhoneArena fails to mention, by iEmbarrassment, that that 64 bit processor is at most Dual-Core, while the other two are Quad-Core. Also, the battery is the Same that is why the mAh is not listed. And, that iFingerprint sensor will break in less than a year .. lol. Screen resolution greater on Note 3. Lastly, the screen size on the iPhone 5Same is Medium - it should be corrected because it is Small by todays standards.

Well what did you expect them to do! These phones aren\'t even in the same ballpark. You got real phones with big screens and then you got this toy with small screen. Everytime the specs are in favor of the big phones, you just omit the data so it looks like the comparison is sorta even....The iphone has a screen size that was good 3 years ago....today its just laughable! Its battery is a joke, but Apple says its an improvement, compared to what....once that processor starts ticking, it will probably get even less battery life.!
