Sony's first Windows Phone might be announced at MWC, still a slider

We might be getting closer to an official announcement of Sony's first Windows Phone, as a new prototype picture emerged, and its source claims it will be announced at MWC. The phone still remains in the slider form factor that we've seen way back last year...

looks like a nice design and form factor from the pictures, but i still don't see the need to include a slider kb. my short time with WP7 showed me how well the predictive text and virtual board worked quite well. looks like MS put some time into it

Disappearing keyboard fix, yet to be rolled out for everyone, is not 100% foolproof. Good remedy, slider keyboard. Honestly though I'm not a fan of sliders but hey it works for many out there. Anyway, bring it on Sony. Invest in WP. Right now there's just too many oem Androids to compete with and so Sony is not winning any races.

Windows Phone desperately needed a good phone with physical landscape querty keyboard....just hoping that this phone carries the 2nd gen hardware.

I'm puzzle by this news. I remember when Sony said Android was the best OS choice they ever made. Moreover they had issue over the inclusion of Xbox Live. It is a strange, but not impossible.
A Sony design windows phone would be awesome.:)

i guess if this is realesed. it would be the tango version, the tango version removed the xbox live.

17. trumpet116 posted on 21 Feb 2012, 17:43

you misinterpreted. Tango will only remove Xbox live in China.

10. tigermcm posted on 21 Feb 2012, 09:23 2

ooooook so there was a story saying tango will not have xbox live. I only assume if thats true than this has to have tango.....why would Sony put xbox live?

Sony is now in the business of making smart phones and would be wise to make at least one very good model of the Windows smart phone but if I were Sony I would skip making Windows 7.5 Mango smart phones because although microsoft will continue to support them for years , Sony instead should make Windows 8 smart phones because they are top of the line with an OS that makes them more compatible with the Microsoft Windows 8 main desktop/Laptop and windows 8 server operating system that is coming out this year and the Windows 9 OS that will follow them

This is fun news for WP fans. If Sony is willing to take a shot on a Microsoft branded smartphone, that is the best endorsement of the upside of WP to date. While I fully intended on being all in on a WP8 handset, this may be the first product that makes me regret having my Focus S. I really miss having a physical keyboard, and I think Sony will excel at handsets now that they do not have to answer to Erickson stockholders as well as their own. I am PUMPED to see how this turns out.

A follow up with WP8 on it this winter, a keyboard, and Sony quality may mean HTC, Samsung, and Nokia may have to survive without my cash......
