If it has same pic quality as RX100 then the price is just OK (not too expensive but not cheap either)

Someone who judges quality for MP count knows everything about cameras.

I wonder how Z1's camera will perform against the qx100 lens.. I've xperia S and either i'll upgrade to Z1 or get the lens.. both combined is just too expensive!!
At this point I'm little tempted with the lens option. Final call when I get my hands on both of 'em.

But if you buy an (already presumably expensive) Sony Xperia Z1 and one of these lenses, it will cost you a fortune. The Lumia 1020 will be half the price... I like this solution and I am not too keen of the 1020 rear hump but I think many people will move towards the Nokia convergence solution...

I don't understand how "Pureview" is a gimmick. I'd say, you'll just have to really own a Lumia 1020 (or even the 808) before you can judge for yourself.

You wanna know what a real gimmick is? It's called "ULTRAPIXEL".
You're welcome!

Firstly i own RX100, which is the best i have ever seen in compact camera's from any brand
and really wanted RX100 MARK 2 which is nearly 800.........
i hope this lens will cost not more than 450 which is a perefect price for such a Huge sensor
sony i really want this
Thank you for such a great innovation

It may be $450 for US, but in UK and Europe new lens would cost much higher

I am not into 'compact' cameras. If I want to carry a camera, I would rather carry a very good one.

Have a A99 at present.

RX100 is pretty nice, but just not for me.

IT be smart if sony includes a discounted prices like 300 bucks if u buy both honami and the lens....then ok i can see this working...if the phones like 600-700 plus 450...that's 1G ur dropping on tech which in 2 years will be like worth like half of that ...not sure if i would spend that kinda of money but good innovation none the less

i called it. i totally called it.

i wonder how many rich sony and android fans will run out and buy this?

the honami will be no less than $600... add this abomination and you are spending $1grand +

with that money you might as well get a REAL dslr

the l1020 is STILL the best option...

you get "near" dslr quality pictures for half the price and 1/5 bulk...

it is a canon 600 that you can put in your POCKET

but of course fandroids wont acknowledge this

they have no problem with BULK and PRICE as long as it's ANDROID

hahahahahahaha

While I agree that the method of Lumia 1020 is the best option, because having QX-100 does not solve the problem of portability and having the device with your all the time, why not just get RX100II?

That said though, Lumia 1020 is a huge disappointment compared to it's predecessor. It's a worse camera, has a smaller sensor, has terrible algorithms and is just generally not a top cameraphone.

If Nokia wants me to buy Lumia 1020 and pay €700 for it, then it MUST be better than it's predecessor, 808, in every way, not worse than it, which 1020, is.

Say what? First off the 808 is on a completely dead platform that will get little to no support. Secondly the 1020 IS the best camera phone on a modern OS hands down.

I also want to add that with the pro cam app I've managed to take breathtaking photos that would be possible on any other camera phone that is supported (no support equals dead)

dude give it up already

Damian Dinning disagrees with you

go to his twitter account @phonedaz

he has a lumia 1020 and has stated that it is better than the 808

who should we believe?

damian dinning, the nokia camera phone apostle, or some troll on the web?

and the most the lumia 1020 costs is $740 american... far from the 700 euro you quote

troll harder

and please please please stop trolling

you're on zdnet, pocketnow, gsmarena and now phonearena saying the GOD DANG SAME THING

alright, we get it, you love the 808, marry it already

symbian is dead and wont get any updates.... too bad...

the 1020 has stuff the 808 doesnt... like OIS, dual flash, lte, its lighter and thinner, bigger and higher res screen, pure motion hd+, more camera options, etc etc etc

some sacrifices had to be made to reduce bulk and camera hump

but it is an overall BETTER device than its predecessor

the only thing I miss are usb on the go and fm transmitter

stay in the past with the 808... it is a brilliant camera phone.... heads and shoulders above the rest... but it is still number two

DEAL WITH IT

The problem is that, I know that 808 is the best.

And I don't want to own 1020, knowing it is not the best cameraphone, EVER! It does not matter if it's a dead platform or not.

1020 would not be my main phone either. WP does not have apps.

and SYMBIAN does?

my n97 is being used as a 27gb flash drive

come better than that

windows phone store has 170000 apps...

i wouldnt mind if you were talking about ios or android but you have the nerve to attack windows on lack of apps when you are rocking symbian...

you are a terrible troll

symbian is dead and damian dinning uses a lumia

go back to your bridge

if i already own a phone say GS3 or Iphons 5 why would i go and buy a 1020 for 700 euro(i have no idea about the price) or something....

i'll simply buy RX100 for 450$.. simple as that and it's cheap too...

also say after 2 years i sold my current phone and bought a new one... still i'll be able to use the lense.

why do i bother about the lumia?

both has pros and cons just go with what suits you

thanks for proving my point...

this is how I think it should work

if you already have a phone and want better pictures than a l1020 but dont want to buy a camera... then buy this

if you are in the market for a really good camera phone and dont want to carry around a bulky dslr then a lumia 1020 is right for you

but of course you could always wait and see what the honami and oppo has to offer

I do think that Nokia 1020 would have been a better option than this one. Unless if it is priced below $300 then it is worth it.
