Sony unveils Xperia Z1 Colorful Edition in China, an LTE-less Z1 Compact
Sony has just unveiled its new Xperia Z1 Colorful Edition along with a few other phones for the world’s biggest market, China. The Xperia Z1 Colorful Edition, also known as the M51w, is basically a China-bound variation on the Z1 Compact with the same 4.3” display, top-notch Snapdragon 800 chip, 20-megapixel camera and colorful glass body.

There is one key difference, though, and that’s the lack of 4G LTE support in this particular model (the Z1 Compact has 4G LTE connectivity). The lack of LTE connectivity is not that big of a problem in China where the network is only now starting to get rolled out and coverage is very limited.

Sony announced two other China-bound devices. The first one is the LTE-equipped Xperia Z1 that is also known under the L39u model name. The second one is the 3G-enabled Xperia T2 Ultra dual (also known as the XM50h) for China Unicom, and it also comes in a 4G/LTE XM50t model that is coming to China Mobile.

Take a look at the first images from the Xperia Z1 Colorful Edition right below.

I think 4 colours can be hardly considered a rich colour palette. Unless if you believe that all manufacturers apart from Nokia should only have black, gray and white phones.

nah... a samsung is releasing devices with similar designs (in which sony is not) with almost similar specs (in which sony is not too) and with a much more frequent numbers... hopefully sony will keep its cool and made it to the top. Keep calm and carry on sony!

Sadly they do. Its even more confusing than Galaxies because of Sony's naming scheme using only letters. But I admit Xperia's design look much more premium than Galaxies, but I like Samsung's more, maybe because of ergonomics and lesser bezels.

Lol... another blind samsung fanboy.
Do you think Xperia Z has rounded corner, curve side and transparent bar like Xperia SP??

"Its even more
confusing than Galaxies because of
Sony's naming scheme using only
letters" that's one of the most stupidest things i ever read.

LOL "blind samsung fanboy"? Does a "blind samsung fanboy" admit that xperia designs are MUCH MORE premium than Galaxies?

It was all IMO by the way.

Am I the only one that thinks the black face plates look disgustingly out of place? Especially with that thick wrap-around bezel
