0. phoneArena 16 Jan 2013, 06:42 posted on

Sony issued a number of Xperia Z videos in the last few days, where it touts the virtues of its first quad-core Full HD 5-incher. The promo footage is very tastefully done, with Sony narrating the precision with which the chassis was made with the company's waterproofing expertise...

This looks like it's Sony's bread & butter, I hope it does well, because the new devices from Samsung & HTC are going to be killer.

Big problem for Sony in the U.S. is no VZW edition. Nokia demonstrated the limitation of carrier exclusivity with the L920. I hope Sony learns from Nokia's experience.

There will be either Xperia Z or Xperia ZL for Verzion, Sprint, and T-Mobile.

At&t picking neither of them.

Oh mordecai, you don't need to be back pedalling all the time...

you love droid DNA, you should proud of it for being an early adopter of 1080p...

But the problem I see from you is that you keep criticise your competitor Just to make yourself better, you don't need to do so my friends...

maybe you don't trust sony much... Sony is actually popular mainly on Europe and commonwealth country... Not popular enough in US...

as much as I love this device, I will always give a huge credit to HTC, for making a wonderful sturdy product... You should keep loving it and ignored others competitor....

+1 for you because I want to do it for a very long time :)

I agree on the Samsung part. As for HTC, idk, Sony is starting to get the 2nd top spot only to Samsung my friend.

The HTC Butterfly J is EXACTLY what the Sony Xperia Z wants to be. It's already out & it has the 1080p HD screen, it's water proof, it has a MicroSD card slot. The only difference is that it has a 8MP camera as opposed to the 13MP on the Xperia Z. The cameras are on par with each other. No difference what so ever.

The Sony Xperia Z is a clone of the HTC Butterfly J with a 13MP camera, so it wouldn't be 100% the same. lol

The NEW HTC's & Samsung's will kill the Sony Xperia Z, because of the new ARM A-15 quad-cores.

Also Sony is not making more phones than HTC. I am sorry to give you bad news there. HTC makes Android & WP.

What's your problem with Sony?
Trying to justify the DNA purchase maybe?
This phone beats out the butterfly with slimmer design, larger battery, better camera with HDR and second generation Exmor sensor.
And Sony makes more smartphones than HTC, (8.9 million vs 8 million in the last report ) so you night check your facts again

I don't have a problem with Sony at all. I really want them to succeed. The problem is that they want to go about it the wrong way.

I REALLY wish they would have put an ARM A-15 quad-core in their phones & then everything would be alright. Look the Xperia Z is going to come out in the Spring of '13. HTC's M7 & Samsung's Galaxy S IV are also coming out in the Spring. That means that the Xperia Z will be obsolete from its release date.

The Xperia Z is going to be just like 2012 Sony models. Everyone will overlook them because there are better available. Why would anyone get an Xperia Z if there is a M7 or a Galaxy S IV available?

If Sony would have had a quad-core A-15 then it would stand a WAY better chance. The Sony Xperia Z is just a different looking HTC Butterfly J with a 13MP camera. Again 2012 tech going up against next gen 2013 tech all in the Spring of '13. Just a bad move by Sony in my opinion.

Also I don't need to justify my HTC Droid DNA purchase at all. I have been enjoying my DNA since Nov. 21st. My DNA is rooted with a custom ROM & Kernel & I have it overclocked to 1.7GHz. My phone is EPIC in every way. The camera is SICK (it has HDR), the speed & fluidity of the Qualcomm Krait S4 Pro quad-core with the Adreno 320 running Jelly Bean is a pleasure I can't describe. I have NEVER owned a better phone. This phone kills my old Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The 1080p SLCD 3 is truly a modern marvel that I enjoy every day.

It may sound weird but I always get goosebumps when watching their videos featuring their flagships since Xperia S. I love how they create videos!

This is a truly amazing looking phone, it's actually better than the HTC DNA. I'm more of a Samsung guy, so I'll wait and see what the GS4 has to offer before thinking about grabbing this. But damn did Sony make this phone look hella good in the video...
