not much philosophy here - all they need to do is to stick with this differentiating design but refine it, (make it thinner and, if possible, suitable for keyboard somehow) and just throw in high quality full hd screen, dot switch, and a beastly processor.

such tablet would sell more than vast majority of generic competing offerings

I definitely think the next generation of Sony tabs will be playstation certified

Sony must stay and compete with the iPad World.

Sony could offer much more than what Apple has: CE, computing, software, game console, portable gaming, smartphone, movie & music publishing, .... If only Sony is reasonbly aggressive and execute reasonably well, it can be extremely successful. Apple has to monitor the moves of Sony with caution. In fact, no company in the mobile computing and CE can ignore Sony!

IMO, Sony Tablet S is the best designed tablet out there.. i agree that there are other more eye pleasing designs out there, but this is the only tablet that has different side profile.. and that's really nice.. a break from the usual form factor.. now only if the screen is FHD and a slightly more powerful hardware.. (maybe LTE support will be nice as well)

Sony Tablet with 1.) HD resolution and 2.)at least dual core with 3.) Voice Telephony and 4.) SMS/MMS support, plus 5.) Native 3G Video Call, 6.) Sony Video and 7.) Music Unlimited, and 8.) PlayStation certification, CAN'T LOSE!

Just don't forget about the hardware next time, okay?

p.s., can't hurt to put in a 8MP Exmor R with Xenon flash and LED video light.

Just don't mess up on the speakers this time. Android Tablets are designed to be landscape. So when you hold the Sony S Tablet it would be nice not to be covering up the speakers. I can't tell you how many returns I used to see when it came out. I mean everytime you watched a movie or played a playstation game, you just cover up the speakers or have to hold it awkwardly. They spent to much time thinking about reading a book portrait that they design team didn't think it through.
