Sony Xperia Z1 drop test: physical survival, emotional ruin (video)

Dropped from about 5 feet (1.5 meters), the premium materials of the handset barely registered a scratch, even when the Xperia Z1 landed flat on its screen, which with most phones results in glass shards under your skin if you try to operate it it afterwards. That all-important operation part, however, the Z1 didn't get right, as the screen lit up, but wasn't showing anything of substance after the three drops it consumed...

More likely to be a "Faulty device. Even before the drop test and from my experience I bought many devices with the same issue NEW units but die after a light impact..so don't let the video lure you away (common Android issue) ...it is just giving a bad image
For the best Android device for 2013 the IMO ...let them do the test AGAIN with a different unit im sure nothing will happen.

If you've watched a few drop tests, you know by now that how the phone lands a) is purely random, they never land the same ways twice, and b) the surface the phones are being dropped upon varies wildly from one test to the next, and c) this has no real bearing on the durability of the phone. The most durable phone in the world will virtually explode if it gets a bad bounce, and the most fragile can survive with a bit of luck. I wouldn't buy or not buy a Z1 on the basis of this (or any other) drop test.

What the use of good build quality if the screen not working anymore! IPhone 5s still comes with the best build quality, i saw all drop the test of Android Authority and honestly only 6 phones success in the drop test

Iphone 5,5S
Lumia 920
Note2
Note 3
Iphone 5c
HTC one

Don't buy the Z1 since it will have the same flaw as the Z. Initially the screen may seem durable but within days or weeks, it can crack on its own. The screen will likely crack on its own like on my Z (and to thousands of others) and Sony will ignore you. Google Xperia Z screen cracks and you will see how "premium" thousands of os screwed Xperia Z users feel with Sony consumer treatment. I am never buying a Sony product again.

Sony is a disgusting and dishonest company. And they lie to consumers they are the only ones this happened to. In Netherlands, the national watchdog publicly warned Sony to
stop cheating customers whose screens broke on their own..

This is like a old car: If you crash, the car gets no scratch, but, you're DEATH! The new ones, you totally a car, but no scratch in you.
