Sony Xperia Z vs Apple iPhone 5 vs Oppo Find 5 camera samples comparison

0. phoneArena 21 Jan 2013, 02:22 posted on

We've seen a number of camera samples with prototype Sony Xperia Z handsets already, but what we were waiting for is comparison with other flagship smartphones to gauge performance against the competition, and that wasn't too far off, it seems...

I am a Sony Fan, but dissapointed to see not much better results than iPhone. :(
IMO, image No. 5 and 6 are better from iPhone and they use Sony sensor..

Even pics from Xperia SL my friend owns are not good in low light conditions.

I hope sony gets back its magic soon. :)

since i understand chinese word pic#5 say xpz captured a very satisfied image and ability to reduce light sensibility, just like lumia920, whereas ip5 captured the most balanced light

They are better because iPhone 5 uses pixel oversampling for low light shots.

I was expecting more from Sony's last flagship, however it falls behind iP5 which is showing colors much more vibrant and has better low light capability.
Need to see the next iphone or the SG4 to see the real business in photography.
Ip5 continues to reign !

if it's matching with iphone 5 picture quality the it is no match for L920...... that's also with 13 MP....

you have to remember the 920 is above others in low light when taking pictures, but normal pics you will find it on par if not better or sometimes bit worse then the sony or iphone.....basically there all pretty close but certain situations can give different results

now those problems are fixed with the update and you r comparing a phone with 8MP And 13 MP .... if the results are same then what's the use of having 13MP ...for the sake of NAme

im not saying anything about the megapixel, im just saying that none are exceptionally better in normal shots then the other.

and the fact the phones 8mp camera is better in some situations shows the 13mp sensor needs work or maybe its the software.

the problems your on about was the blurry pics right, even with the fix it doesnt make the 920 the best camera phone

all im saying is this

''if it's matching with iphone 5 picture quality the it is no match for L920''

is wrong

L920 is better only in low light condition. The ip5 managed to perform better in all other categories.

this comparison was before PR1.1 update for lumia 920 camera which does indeed improve the sharpness of lumia 920 daytime photos. if you want to read a real review by people that are more knowledgeable about camera's than phonearena, then try this one.

"Finally, the Lumia 920's shot is disappointingly noisy and over-processed (look at the text on the sign)."

"The Ativ S and Lumia 920 versions are perhaps too purple.."

"The N9's shot isn't bad, but again noisy, while the crop from the Lumia 920's photo shows perhaps a bit too much battling between the various image processing systems."

The link you send me is just a review, not an in-depth comparison.
Perhaps, you should check this one.
L920 PR1 is used there and guess what? Not much of an improvement.
The only thing that save the L920 is its OIS.
Yet still it only managed to score 1pt over the Ativ S which mean they're pretty much the same. And we all know that the the ip5 is better than the one of the Ativ S.

your post #33 said the iphone perfermed better in all other categories. that's just false. the only area iphone 5 can win camera wise is daytime photo's. but a camera isnt just daytime photo's, you fail to realize that. in video comparison the iphone 5 isnt even close. in audio comparison it's not even close with lumia 920's HAAC mics. in lowlight conditions the lumia 920 wipes the floor with iphone 5. so while iphone 5 can win 1 category, the lumia 920 beats it in your "all other categories". the fact that you left out these other categories while saying "all other catgories" means i shouldnt even be wasting my time responding to you.

for me..
pict#1 : IP5 Win (roof color looks accurate)
pict#2 : Both IP5 & XPZ Win (They look very similiar)
pict#3 : IP5 Win (XPZ looks a bit yellowish vs more natural IP5)
pict#4 : XPZ Win (This time, XPZ looks very natural vs color washed IP5)
pict#5 : XPZ Win (Love its HDR)
pict#6 : XPZ Win (Again, HDR looks good. but noisy)
pict#7 & 8 : XPZ looks more vibrant vs natural coor IP5

i think the colors on Sony are more real than IP5. the images captured by IP5 have saturated colors. look at image 14.

Xperia Z is not the best in all cases but anyway, it's just prototype. Hope that Sony will improve its imaging quaity when Xperia Z's launched later on... z rocks!

No matter who wins, the credit goes to sony for making the cameras of iP5 & Find5.

I highly doubt it's better than the iPhone 5 screen.

The Galaxy s3 screen isn't that great, its the #1 reason i hate the GS3, it is better for some stuff but IPS right now is better overall than Amoled.
