Sony Xperia Z pictured on the floor of CES; will it be one Jelly Bean or two?

0. phoneArena 06 Jan 2013, 19:45 posted on

A photograph shows the extraordinary something that Sony will unleash upon us at CES, namely the Sony Xperia Z, and the device has already been spotted nestled warm and comfy-like in a display two days before the 2013 version of the show begins; with much of the specs already leaked out, unknown is if the device will carry Android 4.1 or 4.2 out of the box...

about time too...was gettin tired of the alphabet series. but this looks like a great phone however i dont think it'll be on android 4.2 sony is knd of slow to get latest versions but 4.1.2 aint bad either. what remains to be seein is battery and screen angle wash out as these have been the major problems for sony the past year

This phone is good.... But any reason to wait for it... DROID DNA with same specs and awesome performance is already in the market.... HDR video is not sufficient reason to wait for more than one month, when we know already that ... no matter what phone you get will be outdated in 3 months...I own DNA from the day it released, and it will surely remain the top performer for at least next 3 months.

DNA does not have microSD slot, and can you dunk it underwater like the Z?

And not everybody is fan of MHL (including me). I had the SGS3 with the adapter... but having a separate micro HDMI port is far more useful.

I agree with you that any phone today will get outdated in 3 month or even less... but for now, and for me... this is the phone to get... (I was considering the PadFone 2 a while ago despite its shortcomings but it never came to America)

Unserstand the micro sd card.. its the verizon who removed it, as HTC j butterfly has it.
....I take care of my phone.. so will not dunk it in water..lol....
But same SOC and Screen..... and difference in release dates would be almost 3 months... So DNA owners like will definitely own best smartphone on market for 3+ months, but when XPERIA Z releases.. soon with in 1 month LG will bring Optimus G2 or Samsung GS 4 will come.... So waiting dosen't makes sense... RIGHT DNA IS BEST SMARTPHONE ON THE MARKET

No disrespect to the Z not a big believer in the DNA would be interested in checking out the Z. Sony has been okay with updates especially if there is an unlocked version

It would be nice to have a device with a stellar camera, but if Sony wants to really make a splash it has to release it on ALL CARRIERS! (Verizon included)

While I wouldn't dump it in water either haven't you ever wanted to take your phone into the shower with you but couldn't? I know I would love to do that sometimes. Maybe a nice long bath and just mess around on the phone. Win-win.

The big difference will be design, and especially the camera. HTC can make good cameras, it just can't make the best cameras.

You know that waterproof works in rains and many situations that can happen in people's lives.

that's exactly what I was implying. I always wanted a waterproof camera, but got stuck with a decent point and shoot... But now I am up for an upgrade of both my digital camera and my phone.. And this sounds PERFECT.

Kindly please check this (keyword) video in youtube. A man owns DNA Droid Verizon Carrier, and he will tell you how HTC Droid DNA breaks its glass.. ( Droid DNA breaks line fine china )

Sony is known to make the best of the hardware it uses.
For example the xperia T uses the same chipset as the htc one s but it scores about the same in the benchmarks usually better and it has a bigger screen with higher resolution.

The Z also has a bigger battery than the DNA and the bravia engine 2 is said to be really good.
We just have to wait till tomorow to see how much better it is than the DNA.
Knowing Sony it will be better for sure

The chrome icon is REALLY standing out from the other icons there. I like chrome on desktop, but on the mobile its quite crap compared to AOSP based one.

I'm interested in the ZL too! I'm hoping it is also waterproof, and, especially, that it come to my country!

Tomorrow will be a long day... This week will be long!

i'm inclined to believe Android 4.2 is running the show here because the dock launcher icons are placed in the same unusual manner as the Nexus 4.
