The Sony Xperia Z comes with 5-inch 1080p display and water and dust resistant body, but as impressive as the combination of those two features are…

A lot of focus on the purple sky from the Xperia, but honestly, i'm not sure we would have perceived the sky to be black with our own eyes, especially due to the amount of light pollution from the city. Also, the blue searchlight coming from the Eiffel Tower was barely picked up by the Note or Nexus, and was clearly visible by the Xperia, so to me, that's a big improvement in low-light contrast.

We don't know how the sky looked exactly over there. But I bet the darker sky in Note 2 is more realistic. Also Z video looks a little overexposed though image clarity is good.

So the z has a bad screen and an ok sensor..?
One of the top two aspects of a phone people look for in a premium phone lacks in the z.
The only thing the new sensor has going for it is the ability to grab more light. The overexposure, purple tint, inconsistent ability to be in focus is pretty bad
I'm going to wait out for the s4 iPhone 6 Lumia before buying this over rated phone

i was interested in this device, but now i've found out it isnt coming to the u.s. on AT&T. AT&T is known to have a good relationship with sony. you can get it on the sony website unlocked and use it on AT&T (only the Z if you want LTE) but you wont be able to buy it at an AT&T store. guess i'm going to be forced to go with the HTC One (aka m7).

Question....is this in auto or night mode? I KNOW when it says HDR mode but the regular mode they shot with i'm guessing its night mode...? ANy ways for an android based smart phone it's regular shooting without hdr is better no doubt. & G Note2 isn't too bad either ...but the HDR is for against sunlight ...not essential for night time....it's overcompensates for the low light and cause alot more noise(not sound! Picture quality)....for far away the objects are blurred @ min 2:39 the eiffel tower for example...it's normal mode w/e it was b4 was far superior...still hdr is a good option to have at your disposal. Nexus 4....well it's 299 soo u can't really complain....LOL

The only other phone that might be of interest to me personally would be the upcoming HTC One/M7! 468ppi....OMG!

The thing that ruins the video is using HDR mode in night. The overexposure of the HDR creates a purple tint. HDR is best in daylight. You can see that the video includes HDR mode on and HDR mode off. When the HDR is off, you can see that it performs much, much better.

PA just over rated the xperia Z camera by their headline.. The video quality of xperia z depends on personal preference.. Some may like it and some may not.. Brightness, color was good but focus and stabilization was not as good as note 2. Review in gsmarena was good. They didn't use the terms like "smoked the gnote2"...
