Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z to receive KitKat update next month
For those in the states with the T-Mobile branded Sony Xperia Z, your last update was to Android 4.2 back in the fourth quarter. According to T-Mobile's software support page, the carrier does anticipate updating the device to Android 4.4 once it becomes available. Of course, the update will have to pass T-Mobile's internal testing.
Unfortunately, no precise date has for the update has been announced by the Japanese manufacturer, but as soon as Sony releases a date, or starts pushing it out, we will let you know.
Sony plans on updating the Xperia Z devices to Android 4.4 next month

And people say Windows Phone is best.

Who says that WP is the best? WP is the best for us WP fans and users, not for everyone. Keep your senseless BS comments to yourself. WP is the fastest growing OS on the planet and any of your stupidity doesn't change that fact. :)

If I'm not mistaken both Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra is on Kitkat atm. Add these phones in may and we'll see who has the most phones in their lineup on kitkat.

Seriously , from Screenshot of S4 , I see no changes in UI only OS ver change in info ~
So , pls dont compare one with no improvement in update , which I can see ,and a update with improvement ~
While One is updated to 4.4 , but still didnt get Sense 6.0 yet ~

It still didn't get Sense 6, but did the Z1 get the software the Z2 is running already? The One started with 4.1, got 4.2, then 4.3, then Sense 5.5 and it got two kitkat OTA's already 4.4 and 4.4.2. My One has been running on kitkat since last year.

In terms of UI yes , while most of Z2 feature is coming from hardware rather than Software side ~
Just a few feature of Z2 is not present on Z1 :
From the info , I get online ,
Z1 didnt have Z2 (tap to wake up) feature ~
And most of it already present on Z1 , only camera Apps like 4k video and Timeshift video , which I hope Sony will soon release the app for others Xperia ~

I' ve already timely received the Kit Kat update for my Z Ultra (Note ii and Note 3 still waiting Samsung!) and it did a super job of fixing the Sony's few annoying bugs with JB 4.2 and 4.3 ... well done Sony and because the UI in its devices is not heavily skinned these updates arrive relatively swift.

Well it's still not officially confirmed. But when/if it does become official (that it won't get KitKat) then feel free to f**k Sony. Only then it deserves it.

Sony doesnt simply release updates to their customers--- their updates normally doesnt have
any flaws or problems..so be patient

I will have to disagree. My Z1 has many glitches since updating to 4.4.2 build 14.3.A.0.757. Worst update to KitKat I've ever seen. Actually KitKat itself is just plain amusing. Amusing that there' s nothing worth updating for. I regret updating it and really wish to go back to jelly bean. As far as glitches goes, trying swiping to unlock your phone in a landscape position (Sony UI doesn't support landscape) and a random app opens. This occurs 100% everytime. Or even the fact that i'm just browsing through chrome and I am unable to swipe through web pages. This also happens on my G2 when using chrome. The worst part about sony's update to kitkat is the lost of the vertical unlock swipe. Replaced with a half baked glitter swipe. I miss jelly bean on both my phones. I've had it! I'm breaking up with you sony.
PS. No unlocked boot loaders or rooting done to the phones in case folks are wondering. I just miss jelly bean.

Actually 4.3 Jelly Bean is more stable than Kitkat ~
