Sony Xperia Z Ultra's Triluminos display gets a side-by-side comparison with the LCD3 display on the HTC One

0. phoneArena 12 Aug 2013, 09:22 posted on

Naturally, the sheer size of the Xperia Z Ultra has received the most coverage, but not enough has been said about Sony's previously TV-exclusive Triluminos tech making its way into its next generation of smartphone devices...

This is a discussion for a news. To read the whole news, click here

Typical Sony fan. So ignorant. That's why I hate Sony fans, really hate.
Did I say anything related to Samsung (remember, here is Sony vs HTC, are you intelligent enough?) or blaming the color? I did edit my comment but I don't know why it's still there, but what I mean is that when we do not have the original pic with the reference device, how can we know what is "perfect"?

When I go down to the beach in Destin Florida or to Panama Beach Florida , and look out over the ocean , I see a green ocean , but my friend says it's blue. I cannot for the life of me see the blue.

If Xperia Z had this display, I would've bought it without blinking. This phablet is a bit too huge for me or anyone to use it comfortably as a regular phone. I'm just not used to 2-handed use all the time.

lol at PA as always...the display of the ZU clearly kills the "one in the One" and even with that at PA: "we have to say we're happy to see Sony making tangible progress in a department"...just a "tangible progress" xD

But I have to say one thing; The first samples of the Z Ultra distributed in Asia lack the X-Reality engine, which will come later with an update (apparently when the handset will be broader available). I have one negative and one positive comment about it; First shame on you Sony to rush an unfinished product that doesn't include what promised. From the June release to September market availability is a long time but trying to span the time gap with a half baked product is really not proper.
On the other hand, if the display of this unit doesn't have the X-Reality engine and produces such great results, then how good will it get after X-Reality kicks in?

I doubt you'll see the difference on a 400ppi device. X-Reality is essentially a sharpen-filter.

Let me tell you something about triluminos display.
According to MIT Technology Review, a Triluminos display boasts a color gamut that is 50 percent larger than that of a conventional LCD panel.

Or in other words it reproduces more tones and textures that result in purer, more distinct colours. Faces on the display look more lifelike than ever while shades of reds, greens and other bright colours appear rich, with greater depth.

it's a sony dude, no one have chance in Display comparison vs Sony (if they put their real tech in it).

Sony have Quality in their product. and of course they have damn true HD recording in their cameras, and true HD in display "bravia". i don't think anyone going to beat sony in HD quality comparison.

and they didn't do their best in their past because they didn't want to...what? Ashame competition?>
Or they didn't do their best because they've been waiting for the correct moment which is about to come...and then there will be another perfect moment for another sony's flagship...give me a brake.
Sony has already been beaten in this department for so many times.

No bezels may mean better pocketabilty but they affect negatively other aspects of ergonomy. Imagine having this giant in your hand and trying to stretch your thumb to touch the home button or even worse the menu button at the far bottom. And having the rest of the bulk wobbling precariously off your grip. At least a sizable bottom bezel spares your thumb from strain. One of phones has the three buttons near he bottom edge and they are a pain.

The HTC One has a lot of wasted space too , especially at the bottom.. That bottom bezel on the HTC One is too much. The side bezel could be thinner too.

I always envied sony's approach regarding the designs of their phones, and the premium feel they hold. Tried them once(xperia s) and I hated it, mainly because of the screen. Now that its solved, and probably will end up having the best screen in the market, I might be tempted to jump off the samsung ship. Either this giant, or the honami will be the successor to my s4
