Buried in the Sony Xperia Z Ultra white papers are a few facts that escaped the public attention during the brouhaha of the official announcement and the quick hands-ons that followed. A lot of information still keeps pouring in, so we are rounding up what has trickled down after the grand unveiling, on forums and covered in-between specs details, so check out the slideshow below...

The camera samples look less than impressive.

I think people, you need to understand the concept of the device. Unlike the Note 2 which is practically a bigger and slightly better S3, the Z Ultra is a more focussed phablet, which sacrifices camera exellence for impressive thinness and other phablet important features (multitasking, stylus-less imput). Obviously Sony doesn't want the Z Ultra to cannibalize the sales of the regular Z and the upcoming Honami. Samsung may be more into creating hero devices but ultimately the Galaxy Notes and Galaxy S's of this world eat up each other's sales rather than expanding. That might have mattered little when the Note was the only phablet in the market, but now this will be noticable.

Yet the phone looks 10 times more attractive and powerful than a lumia 920...

Yeah that's a disappointment there. With the above comments that also went directly at this phone, we can determine that it is a fail already. There are so many great things to say about this phone, but it is the smaller detail that Sony cannot provide. I mean come on, give us all the features!

allright manufacturers...we saw more than enough power, display and size....now stop there..will you please concentrate on the battery by inventing a battery which can be ported into a 6mm device and can last long 2-3 days with heavy use.

No LED FLASH sounds like a big problem to me. But do I really need it?

Sony, wtf were you thinking? You put the most powerful chip in the world in a phablet, but put the 8MP Exmor with no flash camera instead of the 13MP Exmor with flash. And a 3,000mAh battery on a 6.45" screen?

I'm disappointed.

Im so laughing at all of you guys whose bitter on its battery, imagine Xperia Tab Z with 10in screen and 6000mah, that last 7-7 hours on watching and surf. This one is just a bit above on the half of the screen of the tab z with added new hardware. This phone will just be fine!!! I know so!!

there is a big difference between tablet and phone. A phone has sim card in it, the network of which drains significant battery.

You know nothing then since it will run on a SIM card which means battery will drain due to it connecting to a network for signal. Look at the Galaxy Note II, Droid RAZR MAXX. If they can fit a huge battery in the phones, why can't Sony do the same?

Sony already knows that, and of coarse it will drain a lot if mobile data is on and other stuff is running onn task manager,
you know there is always a lot of ways to save battery life, instead you brag, dont buy it, just buy note 3 and goodluck with its bloatware and same old plastic design hahahaha

Some people are never happy and always bitching about this and that! Truth is there is no such thing as the perfect phone. My stance on this and lack of flash is simple, this IS NOT a phone, call it whatever you like but to me this is a TABLET!

Personally, I am not in the market for this but hoping the Honami is true. Oh yes, get over your criticism of viewing angles as videos, already all over the net, clearly show this has great viewing angles and excellent colour reproduction.

Any idea as to the screen tech, seen a video that compares this to LCD (TFT is a LCD display by the way) and shows you the difference between the viewing angles on this say with the Xperia Z and traditional LCDs!

I thought of buying one...but now...wait for Note3...I don't care about camera much but battery should last for heavy one day usage.

yeah samsung will put bigger battery inside Note 3

but if what Sony said is true Xperia ZU have great battery life
Talk time (GSM) Up to 14 hours
Talk time (UMTS) Up to 16 hours
Music listening time Up to 120 hours
Video playback time Up to 7.5 hours
with only 3000 mAh to power gigantic display those numbers are great

The only reason I'll miss the LED flash is that I use it as a flashlight. I don't like taking pictures with flash. If I can't take a decent picture with the flash off, I don't take pictures at all. I just hate the washed out colors in pics with flash on.

I see what a lot of you guys are saying but I dont think this is sonys flag ship device. Think of this as sonys response to the galaxy mega. Now if the honami came out with pitiful specs like this then I will see why everyone should prepare for maximum facepalm.

Saw the comparison photo on gsmarena and this guy is almost as big as a Nexus 7. Definitely feels more like a tablet, something like the Galaxy tab 7" series.
