Sony Xperia M, unlocked, now on sale in the states
Sony's online store is now offering an unlocked version of the Sony Xperia M. Priced at $249.99, the phone faces off against other low-end devices like the Nokia Lumia 520 and Nokia Lumia 521 in the U.S. Currently, the Sony Store offers the handset in black, white or yellow with the purple colored model currently unavailable.

The Sony Xperia M offers a 4 inch screen with resolution of 480 x 854. This works out to a pixel density of 245ppi. A dual-core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus is driving Miss Daisy while the Adreno 305 chews on the graphics. 1GB of RAM is on board and the phone leaves 2GB of usable storage space, which can be expanded with the 32GB capacity microSD slot. Back and front cameras weigh in at 5MP and .3MP respectively, and a 1750mAh cell leaves the lights on. Android 4.1 is pre-installed.

There are lower priced smartphones, but some have less than 1GB of RAM, or a much poorer screen. Yeah, not much storage comes on the phone out of the box, but of you don't mind using a microSD card, and your favorite apps can be stored on the card, you might want to consider the Sony Xperia M if you're shopping for a device in its price range.
