Sony MWC event confirmed for February 24th, might see a 'Sirius' flagship and the 'Castor' tablet

Sony began sending out invitations for a Mobile World Congress press conference, meaning we will see new phone and possibly tablet gear from the Japanese in Barcelona, too, just like last year, when the Tablet Z was announced. The press event will take place at 08:30 CET/01:30 ET on Monday, February 24th February. That same day we are also having Samsung's Unpacked event, expected to see the Galaxy S5 announced, but it is way later in the evening...

they won't. :-) IPS triluminos 5.2", stereo speakers with sound boost, glove mode, thinner profile and bezel, 3 GB RAM, newer s800, bigger battery, 4k ready, 15 mp shooting in 16:9 (sensor's max), released with 4.4 sony's bloat free version, many new software features. all in all, you can't get better phone then this at least in the first half of 2014.

I'm expecting great low light camera performance from the Sirius.

They disappointed with the Tablet Z last year. They created the best tablet of the year by far at the beginning of last year, yet didn't bother market it one bit. Extremely disappointing.

Ah yes, the announcement I've been waiting for. Feb 24 will also be the day PAs website crashes due to heavy volume. Haha.

I don't understand why Sony would unveil their new flagship at MWC. Wasn't the Z1 announced in September 2013 that would be just about 6 months?
I think they will release a tablet and some mid range handsets but don't think the z2 will be released! That would annoy those who got the z1 thinking that their handset is now obsolete!

Sony always announced flagship phones twice a year. Actually Samsung also did same with many variation for S4. Remember S4 Zoom, S4 Active, S4 Snapdragon 800 ver.

I read the article what I mean is a lot of people not just here but on other websites think that Sony will unveil the z2 some time in the next couple of month's. Does the z1 need another refresh? No need to get angry I was just wanting to get other opinions on this.

6 months makes sense to stay relevant in the game. Given how fast technology evolves, this is better than than playing catch up.

Yes you are right about that but the z1 is already so great specs wise. We are at a point where every phone runs buttery smooth especially with android 4.3 and 4.4. So the needless specs race is useless now unless you are a heavy gamer. But lets be honest if you are a gamer you would have a console, gaming PC or handheld device.
I am waiting for real innovation to come back stuff with better battery tech, foldable phones /tablets etc.
If you want to go on about displays Sony xperia z1 has a very decent display if only for the viewing angles. If they improve that and the accuracy of colours you have a winner.
Another point being with devices coming up with shorter life cycles we the tech crowd would be keep being unimpressed because everything will just be iterative updates. Whereas if newer tech came out say every 16-18 months would be able to see bigger updates to each device that would actually "wow" us.
Well that's what I think anyway!
