Sony LT30p Mint previewed, sporting WhiteMagic display tech and 13MP "stacked" camera sensor

The design takes some cues from the Xperia GX, but seems to be less curvaceous on the sides. The LT30p Mint appears to have a unibody design with non-removable battery, but it does have a latch on the side for the SIM card and a microSD card for storage expansion...

This phone has a serious flaw: it's difficult to hold in landscape for gaming. And the plastic does not look good.
But other specs are fine especially the screen.

I love my lil baby Xperia S but I keep having the same problem. As of yesterday the screen has started having a slight yellow tinge to it as my previous Xperia S had. It started off slight then it got so bad to the point that whites looked pissy, reds were green and greens looked blue. lol

Are you using the screen protector? If so try removed it and see... It's getting dusty I think :P

Sony will replace your baby Xperia S. I had mine replaced the same day I saw the yellow tint. Next unit I got was ok. The only gripe I had with the Xperia S is the capacitive buttons are a joke, non-responsive and annoying at times! Picture-taking and general usage is pretty good though. :)

7. pyradark (Posts: 820; Member since: 10 Jun 2012)
Im expecting OLED screen, 4.6-4.8inch screen and 1.8Ghz dual core S4.
hoping 2500mah bat.
12. wendygarett (unregistered)
My guess till be 4.55inch, clearly smaller screen than sgs3 from the picture if you ask me :)
13. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
4.55 looks about right, and yea the white magic looks way better than the pentile
38. wsucoug13 (Posts: 164; Member since: 04 May 2012)
You mean white magic looks better than the Super AMOLED HD. You're comparing the wrong things, and there is NO WAY you could tell the SGSIII is pentile from that picture. you can't tell unless you put it in your face.
8. wendygarett (unregistered)
the benchmark is expected low, but one thing i amazed that sony learn the mistake. from other. Compare to SGS3, both has less bezel, but sgs3 home and back button located TOO BOTTOM of the device, it is actually annoying that you may keep press it accidentally during watching video or playing apps. And Sony realise that. on-screen button is good because it is easily upgradable to jellybean with less R&D cost, because sony follow stock android. I love that :)

BTW, the #14 picture makes me laugh :D
white magic VS pentile screen.... HAHAHA
11. ahomad (Posts: 174; Member since: 15 May 2012)
I don't think the benchmark will be low, my xperia s scores the highest of any dual core phone in most tests (see its comparison with galaxy nexus and gs2) excluding dual-core A15 of course
14. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
How so? The Xperia S has a S3 chipset in it, There are plenty of dual core phones out that have the S4 Krait chip in them...So how does your xperia s score against the HTC one s if i may ask?
15. RamyRamz69 (Posts: 390; Member since: 12 Dec 2011)
"Excluding Dual-Core A15 of course"
Learn to read...
16. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
Now correct me where im ignorant at, but what phone has an A15 cpu in it yet?? The Htc one S has S4 krait Adreno 225 so does the droid incredible 4g lte, the Htc One X and the Galaxy S3 (american versions)....So every dual core phone out (worth talking about anyway) has either a S3 scorpion 220 or a S4 krait adreno 225 in them....so how can he say excluding A15 when there arent any phones out with it yet??
19. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
There is no "dual core A15" ......The arm cortex A15 is going to be made for quadcore phones probably around next year... There are only dual core A9 phones out right now bro..just sayin
35. Obie-Wan (Posts: 54; Member since: 24 May 2012)
I think what ahomad n ramy meant to explain is that S4 Krait processors are Equivalent to the A15 Arm Architecture, so the performance level might bit similiar.
21. ahomad (Posts: 174; Member since: 15 May 2012)
S4 Krait is dual core cpu based on ARM A15 architecture.
most chips used in the current smartphones relies on ARM architecture but they have different names depending on the manufacturer, so what ARM does is just design, then licence their design to manufacturer to produce, including exynose, snapdragon and even apple chips. so S4 chip relies on ARM A15 design (architecture) but they called the actual cpu "Krait" instead of A15. the previous model which is used in the xperia s S3 chip called scorpion and is based on ARM A8 yet the xperia s is better than most phones with A9 based chips and score the highest in most benchmarks.
I hope this made it clearer
22. SonyFTW2020 (Posts: 311; Member since: 03 May 2012)
thanks my friend because like i asked to correct me where i was ignorant at....When you check gsm arena or phone arena for inforamtion on the specs the list does not go into great detail like that so i was definitely ignorant in knowing that the krait chip was made by arm architecture....Thanks again for lettin me know..
23. ahomad (Posts: 174; Member since: 15 May 2012)
manufacturers rename the chip but do not usually rename the cpu itself, so exynose, snapdragon and apple Ax are names of the chips, but they usually say that they use "for example" A9 architecture, except for snapdragon, they rename the cpu as well and they call it Krait instead of A15.
so Qualcomm is the name of the company, snapdragon the chips, S4 generation of the chips, Krait is the name of the cpu and adreno is the gpu.
26. ahomad (Posts: 174; Member since: 15 May 2012)
if you looked closely to the quadrant score, you would see that the cpu score is less than galaxy nexus while this phone uses more powerful cpu, which mean that they underclocked it and you can confirm that with antutu results where it shows cpu frequency 1.1ghz, so if you clocked this phone at 1.5ghz, it would have better scores than other phones

Have 2 convince my dad 2 buy this one for me this year...Design is superb...has pretty good specs...hopefully great cam...only thing of my concern is that it should have a good battery around 2200-2300 mah...would be cool..because white mahic nd hd resolution is power hungry...coupled with that the andoid os it would need a good battery life...
18. Gaurav008 (Posts: 298; Member since: 20 Jul 2012)
*android os nd *white magic...sorry fr the typos..
20. kamil (Posts: 116; Member since: 07 Feb 2012)
if you actually look closely at the antutu benchmark test the mint might be over clocked at around 1 Ghz to 1.2 Ghz then look at quadrant benchmark and you can actually see it is just seconds behind the one x and its scored a respectable 60+ fps on nenamark. now thats quite impressive in my point of view.

Yes finally some pictures! Just glad I didnt buy the iON. Looks so beautiful.
30. darac (Posts: 2156; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
PA correct your self, its not a 4.3 inch screen but a 4.55 incher.
Anyway, I've been waiting to see this phone before deciding for my next one..and now I have decided - Galaxy SIII here I come!
A letdown from Sony. So long, it was a quite ride, but time to move on..
31. teito (Posts: 1; Member since: 26 Jul 2012)
i think that phone will be the xperia "lotus" not the "mint1" xD
33. BabyWade (Posts: 42; Member since: 12 Jun 2012)
Was a little worried that this was the final design that Sony came up with until I saw that this is only a pre-production unit. The specs are good expected a little bit more like an andreno 320 gpu & a 2500 mAh battery ( looks like it will be between 2000 - 2300 mAh) I can't wait to see what Sony really has up their sleeve for the Mint.
34. Jyakotu (Posts: 832; Member since: 12 Dec 2008)
I hate being a Sprint customer because there is ZERO chance of them getting a Sony Android phone. :-(
36. ryq24 (Posts: 630; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
4.3"! was expecting it to be 4.6". mobile review claim it would be more expensive than galaxy s3. if that's true then this phone would fail big time!
37. Cyan3boN (Posts: 438; Member since: 23 Feb 2012)
i really hate sony following the footsteps of samsung, flooding the market with smartphones.
39. Aaron_R96 (Posts: 198; Member since: 22 Jan 2012)
Theyre not flooding the market, remember the amount of regions and areas the new Sony-only brand has to cover following Sony Ericsson.. also on the mint, I must admit I prefer the design of the GX (LT29) so im now looking forward to see the Hayabusa (LT29i) as its meant to be slightly different to the GX.. We shall see, especially as this is only a production model as a number of sources state.

This is a hell one beautiful looking phone from sony. Now i'm glad I waited for the MINT cause everyone keeps complaining bout the iON with last year S3 Snapdragon processor. can't wait till this launch on AT&T.
