Sony Honami mini is real: first image and specs surface in Japan, phone to be called Xperia Z1 f

The Sony Xperia Honami mini is a device we’ve been hearing about for a long time - a compact yet powerful Android, the first of its kind, and now we’ve gotten the first truly veritable leak about its real existence…

I'd take the Z1 over this due to the fact it has a 5" screen. Solid high end device.

I don't how big your hand is but the Z1 sure is too huge for a phone with 5". Even the G2 has a larger screen with smaller dimension compare to Z1. I think this new version of Z1 (Z1 f?) will surely have many customers where people want to get a compact smartphone without having to compromise the hardware.

What really sucks is the screen size for this one... I did not like the bezel on Z1, and now I a bit dissapointed of the 4.3" screen... I already have a 4.3" screen Xperia, BUT with capacitive buttons... so I can fully use the entire area...

Maybe I will stick a bit longer with my Acro S until a 4.5~4.7" beast like this appear, since Sony is not coming back to capacitive buttons.

Maybe an Xperia Z1R

My Sony,

triluminious, xreallity , bravia engine these all sounds cool.. until you change TFT screen to'World Class' IPS panel or Amoled screens !!
And just optimise battery with your hardware/software. Reduce screen bezel..Thats it.

That will be my first Sony Phone.

I agree with battery optimization and bezel in many of their models... but their screen have always (since NXT lineup) been awesome, and the viewing angle is an overrated complain. My 720p Xperia Acro S still get many "wows" for it's screen from iPhone and Galaxy users, specially when displaying pictures and video with Bravia Engine turned on.

Nah, just use the display of Z Ultra, it's better. The display in Z & Z1 suck. I wonder why Z Ultra has better display while the other Zs don't

You are right..I read comment there like this

' thats because Z1 has the same panel as Xperia Z. just put it under microscope and you`ll see the pixel type, orientation, size and other things are just same (I just did that!).that`s why Xperia Z1 has limited view angle compared to Xperia Z Ultra.'

Anyway there is big difference. . Z ULTRA and Z1.kurai check it out.

The tft screen that you're talking about has evolved. it produces more accurate colors than that of the amoled, it improved greatly on the viewing angles and it's evenly par with samsung's samoled and htc's s-lcd. sony's just beginning ....

First of all, this is not true. The iphone (and ipad) are not lagless at all. I've seen lags myself, when opening apps, websites and so on, and I've seen games stuttering. So it's *almost* lagless. Open apple maps with ios7 on a previous generation ipad and it will take several seconds, much less than how much google maps takes to open in my (previous generation) nexus 7.
Second, take an android in the same price range of an iphone, like an htc one or an xperia z1 and you'll see that it's virtually lagless as well.
If this is the only thing you've been able to come out with, I have bad news for you... it's not true anymore. Iphone used to be lagless when the OS was simpler, but as soon as they had to implement new features to keep up with Android lags and fragmentation started to appear as well. And Android had lags in the beginning, but now it does not lag so much, of course (as I said) on phones that have the same price of the iphone.

Yeah comparing to my s4. Cant even handle a basic function, answering calls! I will always say this because i experienced it and still experiencing it! I got in trouble due to unanswered calls! I havent seen any phone that doesnt lag when answering calls but s4. I really hate it! Im not techie but it is very annoying and frustrating! I should have waited for z1 or Ip5s.

@tryingHARD samsung's interface has many features, but I must admit that it's not as fast as stock android or other interfaces like sony or htc. It's more of a samsung's problem, though. If speed is you major concern, you could try this:

I have I9500. It says there that it is only for I9505. I really want to stop this lag when answering. But i am not techie and i have a very little knowledge of troubleshooting. They said stock android is faster and doesnt lag. I hope to get it in mine. Btw, i dont know what stock android is.

OMG... I knew almost all these things, but I didn't know that there's no app integration in IOS and that you can't set default applications for different actions... I took these things for granted even on the iphone!
Anyway, the list is impressive.

I'm skeptical about the battery life of this one. A SD800 SoC + 2300mAh battery looks like a bad combination. We'll see soon enough. . .

The rumoured N5 has the exact same SoC and battery but with larger display and higher resolution. I'm not sure what KitKat will bring but I sure hope that it's all about optimization for a better UX. As you said, we'll see soon enough :D

I kinda forgot that this phone has a 4.3'' 720p screen which theoritically consumes way less battery compared to screens that are 5+" 1080p. Looks like there is hope for a decent battery life with this one. ;-)

small bezels pls... otherwise it would be a large device with a small screen...

btw, i visited one of the telcos tried playing with the z1...

nice.. snappy.. elegant looking device...

the only reasons i'm staying with samsung are:
1. thinner bezels...
2. wolfson audio...
3. software addons... smart stay, air view, 2 finger swipe, swipe top screen to access notifications... to me are useful addons...

are these 3 hard to put/apply on a sony device?

Great move by Sony. Many people have been clamouring for a phone like this i.e. A phone with 4-4.5 inch with high-end specs. They will sell a lot of this.
Sony will definitely do well in the android world. I wonder what their problem was when the were with ericsson.
