Sony Ericsson washes its hands of the Xperia X10 update delay, blames it on AT&T

It seems that AT&T is to blame for the belated update of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to Android 2.1, which was supposed to be done by now. Citing rigorous US testing procedures, the company says they are rolling the update as fast as possible...

well... still SE is a great phone brand but i still doubt their capability to update the firmware of their phones. SO SLOW! LOOKS LIKE IT WOULD TURN OUT WITH NO UPDATE AT ALL.

Just blame AT&T for getting the phone too late. I'm just glad I returned after messing with it for only a few days cause the software sucks on it anyway.

Nothing new here. AT&T has been known for doing this since the beginning. It's one of the reasons I wish more people would complain, and more manufacturers would push back against the way they want to control the user. We all need to get together and tell them, we don't want your garbage. We just want the phone as the manufacturer designed it, and we don't want your garbage software all over it. You know, the same treatment that Apple gets. You can offer your apps on the side, especially ones where you can get into your account, but we don't want them preloaded onto the phone. We'll download them afterward. Then all this garbage about waiting months and months for an update won't happen because they can't get involved.

I have X10 since April, of course it is unlocked version, and upgraded to 2.1 in beginning of November. This is most nice looking android phone out there. About the software, it is not bad either. Just no multi touch function, but it will bring to us for the next coming update which is very soon. Plus in the future, it will update to 2.2, can't wait.
My point is buying locked phone with U.S. carrier always sucks, CDMA ones even worse.
P.S. my unlocked version X10 is capabable with T-mobile's 3G frequency. AT&T's 3G sucks.

I have an unbranded US x10 mini and the update has still not been released for me either. I think they actually mean US as at&t would have noting to do with them rolling out the update for my phone. Either way I still blame SE. Other phone companies are able to get android updates out a little sooner than this....

Wow, had it with SE and At&t. Here it is Feb 27th and STILL no update!!! I will absolutely not be selling the Play when it comes to Verizon. Don't feel right selling my customers a phone that will have no support (updates) on the back end. Being stuck on 1.6 is completely unacceptable! And yes if you were paying attention I personally have At&t and sell Verizon services. HaHa funny stuff!! Would switch to Verizon but that $400 deposit has been a bit of a deterent.
