Sony Ericsson stomps its foot down about not offering any new Symbian products
Now there is going to be one less partner in Nokia's seemingly depleting partners now that Sony Ericsson stomped its foot in regards to any future development of Symbian based handsets. In fact, Sony Ericsson spokesperson Aldo Liguori simply stated to the point, “we have no plans for the time being to develop any new products to the Symbian Foundation standard or operating system.”

As much as we can all say that the doors are completely closed in regards to Symbian powered Sony Ericsson devices, there is still that slight possibility that this fragile relationship might once again develop some time down the road. In the mean time, don't get your hopes raised about seeing something in the near term.

Still, it's probably best to allow Sony Ericsson to focus on something that'll truly bring their products the much needed attention they deserve. Playstation phone anyone?

Playstation phone??? Yeah right. Remember when Nokia made their N-Gage video game phone. That lasted a whole couple of weeks.

Sony is smart enough to know that the the death of the symbian os is marked the moment the android os performed well in the market. I think symbian standards should start making some changes right now for a smarter and more powerful os before it's too late.

i think its too late. everyone is ALL over android and iOS. (some are still big heads and think they need a blackberry so we can all see what a big business hot shot they are, and that we should buy from them.. lol) but you talk about nokia, and all anyone remembers is the simple phones they had.. the 6000 series and so on. not what they are trying to sell to the GSM carriers now.

blackberry and nokia are dying. they are holding hands circling the drain. i have seen this coming for a couple years now. especially nokia. why dont they make some more CDMA phones?? i used to LOVE nokia! thought they were the best money could buy.. (I had at&t at the time) and now you dont even see them carrying many of their phones. and verizon has what.. ONE lousy nokia.. (and its a pile-o-garbage at that.. the twist.. come on now! it looks like a zipper pull or a key chain) if you make it (and dont over-price it) it will sell. people still have faith in nokia.. for now.

OMG, there are other continents besides America, and guess what: Nokia has more than 50% of the cell phone market. They are too big to just die. They recently revamed the S40 platform and introduced S40 touch phones. Free navigation and their E series are keeping Symbian alive. Wait for a year till Symbian 4 comes out. They'll never have two tirds of the market outside the USA, but I think their market share will stabilize at 45-50%.
