Sony Ericsson renames the Idou to Satio, announces the Aino and the Yari
Sony Ericsson has shed some light on three of its most interesting upcoming makes. All of them  have specific names, which is something new, apparently the manufacturer wants to make them way easier to memorize than, say, just model numbers like C905. Prepare to meet the Satio, the Aino and the Yari. However, make no mistake, the Satio is none other but the well-known Idou. Announced back at the MWC, the Satio is the first handset known to have a 12.1MP camera and the Symbian Foundation operating system. Actually, it has now become clear that the Satio will run Symbian S60 5th Edition OS, also used in the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and the OMNIA HD. Besides that, there is nothing really new about the Satio – it still has 3.5-inch 16:9 touchscreen and camera with xenon flash. The Satio is expected at the beginning of 2009’s fourth quarter.

The Sony Ericsson Aino is the company’s first touchscreen feature phone. It is a stylish slider, equipped with a large 3-inch screen. The handset looks really stylish and will come with a large number of high-end features, such as 8.1-megapixel camera with Photo flash. The unique one is called Remote Play with PLAYSTATION 3, which basically allows you to control and access media content on your console. Other goodies include Wi-Fi, A-GPS and 3D games. This one should also come out sometime in early Q4 2009.

In the end, there is the Yari – Sony Ericsson’s next-generation handset dedicated to gaming. It is a slider too, but houses much smaller 2.4-inch display. The manufacturer promotes its “unique” capabilities like gesture and motion-controlled gaming. It would be nice to see what this actually means and if it brings something really new to the market. Other key features include gaming–dedicated keys, games carousel, which should allow you to access your entertainment content really fast and 5MP camera. The phone should be released in early Q4 this year.

All three phones have American versions, respectively: Satio(a), Aino(a) and Yari(a), which sport global 3G.
