Too little too late? This phone is pretty old.. Who would wait a year and a half for an update? It's merely a way of upsetting owners and reminding them not to trust your brand and not upgrade to a newer version of the device when their contract is up in 6 months.

Say what you will about Apple, but their devices get their yearly updates/upgrades.

On Android seems to be such hassle to get updates with some suppliers and models receiving preferential treatment.. (Can anyone say Nexus..?)

iphones get updates quarterly. From the time Android was on 2.1 official iphones went to 4 from 3.2 then 4.1, 4.2, and now 4.3 this is all since the release of iphone 4 that Apple has made 3 quarterly updates 4.0 - 4.3

5.0 will be out in September while most Android phones are stuck on 2.2 for over a year.

At least with Android the updates are coded responsibly enough that they won't brick half of the older devices that actually get them. Furthermore, Froyo was released just over a year ago, but the major phones didn't get it until later. Now they're already getting Gingerbread in less than a year.

Yes, iPhone update super fast but what the heck...they are still missing some of the feature compare to Android 2.1....What is so f**king proud about those achievement lol

Because the alternative was leaving the phone on 1.6, which pissed a lot of owners off because they had been promised an update when they bought the phone. Several months later AT&T came out and said "actually, the X10 is staying on 1.6 after all. SUCK IT, LOSERS!" before throwing a beer can at customers' heads and driving away laughing.
