Sony Ericsson delays the Android 2.1 update for their line of X10 handset to late October
Call it a long time coming, and we mean a long time, but it appears as though owners of Sony Ericsson's vast family of Xperia X10 devices will have to wait a bit longer to just experience Android 2.1 and all of its glory. Naturally it was good news to owners when Sony Ericsson announced that they are indeed going to have the Eclair update for their family of X10 handsets – such as the X10 mini and X10 mini pro.

However, they're now announcing that it'll have to wait until late October as they said, “we need a couple of more weeks before we are ready to start the roll-out.” Previously, the availability of this long waited update was penned down for a September release, but now that's all but a repressed memory at this point.

Still, it's hard to believe that owners are still waiting for just Android 2.1 when many other manufacturers are also busy in pushing out updates to their handsets – but they're obviously targeting Android 2.2 Froyo. Regardless, there looks to be some extra goodies being thrown in by Sony Ericsson such as HD video recording with continuous auto-focus for the Xperia X10.
