Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 will not be announced today

Sad as it is, it seems at Sony Ericsson have no intention to announce the successor to their Windows Mobile-powered Xperia X1 smartphone today. For those who missed the news, two days ago we informed you that the manufacturer was to hold an event on June 17 in Singapore. Of course, speculations immediately spread, going we might actually see the rumored Xperia X2 officially. However, a statement has been posted on the official XPERIA blog, saying the purpose of the event is to “recap the recent launches for Aino, Saito and Yari as well as the GreenHeart phones (the C901 GreenHeart and Naite.)” Still, there is a glimmer of hope coming from the statement, as it goes on to clarify that the company will “have some news on the X2 later this year,” which practically confirms the existence of the X2.
