Sony C660X leaks; could be 6 inch Yuga model with Jelly Bean aboard
0. phoneArena 14 Oct 2012, 15:36 posted on
Has Sony already topped its expected flagship model for 2013 with another leaked phone? Last week's lead of the 650X "Odin" and its high-end specs might have been matched or topped by a new leak of the Sony C660X "Yuga" which could have a 6 inch screen...

I was baffled by the same thing, why on earth is the screen 5"? Make it smaller, it's going to make this phone wide. Sheesh Sony no reason to go overboard.

im just saying we havent even made a quadcore 4.5 or 4.7 inch yet and they're thinking about a 5inch phablet and a 6inch tablet!??

Calm yourself. These are just the two devices that have been LEAKED (or rumored). There is no indication that there would not be more devices with screen sizes between 4.5-4.7 inches that wouldn't have the same kind of specifications. In fact, I highly doubt that they would not also release a high-end device that came in the 4.5-4.7 inch screen size next year. So, again, just calm down. This is just about two devices that have been leaked or rumored to be produced. There are probably a dozen other devices Sony is making that just haven't been leaked yet.

yea hopefully they have their priorities in order and not try and overdue things just to catch up with competition...Because they're doing just fine they just need to get naming down, and deliver in certain parts of their specs sheets.....But it seems Sony's getting better I just dont like things that can sort of mislead people into thinking other things but naming is particurly where they need to continue to improve :)

I think this is just Sony's attempt to finally enter the phablet world. Ever since I bought the Galaxy Note, I am in love with the idea of more phablets coming out. So, the more competition is welcome. Don't be discouraged that this means they are leaving the smaller screen phone market behind. Sony, just like Samsung, produces devices at all different types of screen sizes. I can see a successor to the Xperia Mini coming out soon as well as a 4.5-4.7 inch device coming out by Q2 of next year.

well i cant really say the same about those phablets never held one and dont plan on buying one....I held the galaxy S3 but found it to be a tad bit to big or tall but i mainly didnt like the build of it lol.....But I dont see how anyone could ever want a phone bigger than that and if they do then their mind set has to be not intending on using as a phone specifically but looking more so at it as a tablet...cuz thats really what it is......I hope you know that

Well that certainly is your opinion. In all honesty, I look at my Galaxy Note as a phone more than a tablet. After the first two weeks with it, you just start to think of it less and less as it being necessarily big. It just looks like a normal phone to me. In fact, whenever I try to use my friend's phones they are too small for me. I have to squint to look at any content on their phones.
And whether or not you can see why people want phones that are 5 inches or larger, you cannot argue that the trend for screen sizes is going in that direction. The Galaxy Note II is expected to sell 20 million units. That's a lot of people that want a big phone. We also have rumors of a 5 inch HTC phone and now rumors of this 5 inch and 6 inch Sony phone. Phones with these larger screens are selling.
You also have to remember that smartphones in today's world are not being used as much for talking as they are for texting and internet usage. With that in mind, it really shouldn't be that hard to see that people are putting more emphasis on screen size over how small it is on the side of their face when they are talking.

you're right man I jus hope it doesnt force other good companies into thinking they need to make huge phones in order to survive this on going game of mobile competition....

Then why do you need a super spec phone?
I use phone mostly for browsing and like to watch movies on it.
Buy xperia V and it will serve all your calling and texting needs just fine..

i think sony will make the 5" phone to fit in the hand like the gs3 cause look at the xperia t it is just as big as the xperia s only a bit wider also just a bit bigger than the gs2.
I think they'll make 4-4.5 inch mid-end phones with 720p screens.
can't wait for odin and yuga :d

It looks more like a tablet p that can make phone call I think... Impossible to be phone...
23. OptimusOne (Posts: 694; Member since: 22 May 2012)
call me crazy but i want a 720 p 3.7 inch phone, quadcore krait would be awesome. why can't people have good phones that are small?
4. jan25 (Posts: 435; Member since: 26 Feb 2012)
even a true edge to edge screen would make the "phone" too big. i am intrigued.

I'm anxious. I want to see their product. I think that a 6 incher would be usable if it goes edge to edge. I can use my Note at 5.3" just fine, with 1 hand. 6 inches should be ok too. Don't know, my huge (very large anyway) hands help me a lot, it's true that not anyone will be able to do so though

It will have the 6.1" 2560x1600 498ppi that Toshiba & Sharp will mass produce?
8. Luuthian (Posts: 222; Member since: 09 Sep 2011)
This is too big. I'm getting sick of the screen size increases... 4.3 to 4.5 is the ultimate sweet spot for a big screen. After that you're gunning for phablet territory, so you might as well pick a single size and stick with it. Don't offer various phone models with 4 to 4.3 to 4.5 to 5 inch screens and completely random specs.
Some of us just want a serious flagship device with a comfotable screen size... Why is that so hard to find :(. I'm almost considering buying an HTC 8X simply because it's a flagship phone that doesn't look like I need to carry it in a bag.

samsungs the main reason behind this and its quite annoying....
11. jan25 (Posts: 435; Member since: 26 Feb 2012)
if it sells, they will produce it. you really can't blame them.
21. HouTexan (Posts: 348; Member since: 08 Jan 2012)
People are BUYING THE DEVICES. Why wouldn't they sell it? smh
17. darac (Posts: 2156; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
Ah, you guys are such tin cans.. Have you even tried One x or Galaxy s3?
I can tell you there's NO way I could get back to anything lesser than 4.8 inch.. in fact, now I only want to go even bigger :)
Big screens are the best thing that happened to handheld world.
19. XPERIA-KNIGHT (unregistered)
infact most of us have tried or at least held the one x and galaxy S3 man.......the other fact is our hands arent getting any bigger so the need to continue to "grow bigger" is really something not needed......But if you're going to make a tablet then call it a tablet not a smartphone
10. Joshing4fun (Posts: 1062; Member since: 13 Aug 2010)
No. Sony, just no. If it's gonna have a 6 inch screen, it better not have any bezel at all.
13. adjou (Posts: 102; Member since: 06 Jul 2010)
I think it will be just a bit bigger than the note 2. Since the Sony phablet is most likely going to have on-screen buttons.
The Note 2 has a 5.5" WITH physical buttons.
Also, rumour is saying that Sony's 5" phones will be the same size as the xperia ion. This means less bezel and more screen.

sony's first quadcore? wow!!! thank goodness! i want it to be a xperia nexus! :)
25. soshi (Posts: 154; Member since: 08 Mar 2012)
It is good because people has more choice. If you want smaller screen just wait for other news. I more agree with sony strategy to differentiate tablet and phone processing power. My phone is single core and still good enough, dont get suck by technology war by samsung strategy. Just get what is really needed

1 inc screen with quadcore Krait would be magic.
