Some Samsung Galaxy S III units are dying young
0. phoneArena posted on 21 Dec 2012, 02:15
There have been a number of reports about the Samsung Galaxy S III suffering from a killer bug that turns off the phone and won't let it reboot and while Samsung is aware of the issue, it has affected quite a number of units; Sammy is doing the right thing and is replacing the units regardless if they have been rooted or not and the problem seems to take place 150-200 after being activated...

Not surprising after I read this article...

Failure sounds more like reported NAND corruption. Especially since Sammy is replacing failed units with no questions asked....

On the bright side, this happened on international version, and mostly on Europe... Now news here yet in US :)

Sammy Products all have an international warranty worldWide, so there is nothing to be worry about.

Business is war. If you were to write the history of the industry, slightly fictionalized, to include the attempts at espionage and sabotage by smaller companies to bring down a bigger company, then you would have chapters that look remarkably similar to what NOKIA and LG experienced. These companies had to pull product and change factories to resolve their problems. Microsoft already knows about malicious software loaded onto THEIR products and has had to act. Now it looks like maybe Samsung is having a problem that could fit the patttern - a built in 'kill-switch' that is intended to ruin their reputation and drive customers and market share. They might need to review their ISO9000 results and get more QA bodies into the factories, or do as NOKIA and LG have had to do. And they better do it fast. We all have marvelled at how NOKIA and LG lost market share so dramatically. Does anyone one else know these company's manufacturing woes? Business is war.

there seem to be problems here and there with samsung, but they are rich enough to cover it which is beneficial to their image.
57. Commentator posted on 21 Dec 2012, 10:58 7 0
Because they have fantastic marketing and legions of rabidly loyal fans to keep buying their products no matter what.

Everyone has a warranty. Samsung can tell how old your phone is and they cover it. No proof of purchase or any documentation needed.

Why is it okay that people is allowed to go to an apple article and say that GS3> iPhone but its considered trolling when an Apple fan says iPhone > GS3 in a Samsung article ?
41. darkskoliro posted on 21 Dec 2012, 07:36 7 0
android fans are just as bad as apple fans.
To be honest, any fanboy is bad. Sure, apple has been an absolute arse about the lawsuits and thats been proven clear, but there is no need to see the competition between the handsets in every article? Maturity age at a down low...
42. chaoticrazor posted on 21 Dec 2012, 08:06 5 0
its because the majority of the people on here are android fanboys and some of the worst ones at that. if you look at any non android article i could almost guarantee you will find android fanboys slating other os's and users and praising android
its a numbers thing, they have numbers on there side so they feel they can belittle people. all fanboys ruin this site though
60. VZWuser76 posted on 21 Dec 2012, 11:20 1 0
Yes they do. Three years ago it was the other way around (Apple had the majority). I really don't miss the days when being told that the reason I didn't have an iphone is because I couldn't afford it.
62. chaoticrazor posted on 21 Dec 2012, 11:30 5 0
yep ive heard that one, but its funny how now on here the few apple trolls left are swarmed on for doing what a majority of the android fans do themselves.
id say and im sure i will get painted red by said fanboys but android fanboys are much worse now then apple fanboys were. they moan about made up bias, they insult people ( like calling them stupid as they chose something other then android) and they take every article and turn it into an android centric praise-a-thon.
if only there was a way to remove all fanboys off here
69. VZWuser76 posted on 21 Dec 2012, 20:12 1 0
You've HEARD about it but you can say that you THINK the fanboys now are bad. I was there, and they were just as bad. People were called uninformed or poor for not having an apple product. They made it about social standing. And they were in EVERY android article. I asked why they were commenting on an article when they weren't interested in android. Their response was they had a right to speak their mind. But now when the reverse happens you're being ganged up on? I don't like this BS anymore than you do, but they're acting no worse than the other fanboys were. If anything, if they didn't act the same it would show a higher maturity level.
I personally think you should use what works for you, because you know yourself better than anyone else. Where I have a problem is when other people root for an outcome where consumer choice is limited. You don't like android, windows phone, or blackberry? Fine, don't buy it. But don't spout off hoping they go away and limiting my or other people's options. Some of these posters like Mytzylplik are completely one dimensional. If it favors apple it's good, if it doesn't, it's bad. It's one thing to be loyal to a company, it's another to blindly follow them no matter what. Doing so leads to people calling you names like sheep or lemmings. I like android currently, down the road I may go another way. I just hope there are options if I decide to switch. If you don't agree then we'll have to agree to disagree.
73. chaoticrazor posted on 22 Dec 2012, 07:25 0 1
first off it wasnt as bad as the android lot are now, trust me seen the apple trolls attempts and yes it was immature and pathetic, but there main go to comments were
''your too poor'
''it for select people your not worthy''
both crap but you can tell comes from the mind of deluded kids.
now look at now, the android fanboys and how they swarm every article to slate other choices like iOS, wp8 and bb10. the first 10 comments on pretty much every apple article are android fanboys saying the usual and maybe adding a bad apple maps joke.
whats funny is remember when the iphone had the purple flare, remember the attack the android lot did and how for a long time it was there go to joke on every article i.e. ''hows your purple pics?''. then when the nexus 4 was reported to have it look how fast they changed there tune suddenly they accepted most camera's are subject to this and it wasnt a big deal...........see these android fans do exactly the same as the apple lot did, holding a certain company up as this almighty presence. apple was seen as a cult and now its google. try to say one bad thing about google and watch the reaction you get its like you punched a family member.
''Mytzylplik'' is a one sided deluded troll, no question about it but theres that meoceo guy (whatever his name is) thats exactly the same but for google/samsung yet he is accepted and praised where as Mytzylplik is hated and subjected to insults..........both the same but different results.
i agree all should use whatever they like and not be judged by fanboys. what you choose doesnt make you superior to others and many on here need to get that
77. thelegend6657 posted on 22 Dec 2012, 08:27 1 0
I agree with both of you :)
Actually his name is MeoCao when ever he post a one sided comment I would call him Samsung Fanboy troll he will call me an iSheep and I my comments get a ton of reds .
But he only liked Samsung , he even bashed some other android phone companies . Not agreeing with him or not a fan of Samsung device and he will call you an iSheep
75. thelegend6657 posted on 22 Dec 2012, 08:23 0 0
I don't really get why people become fanboys , I owns iOS android and Symbian devices . And I think it's a pretty good combination . Why can't they just enjoy their devices ?
74. thelegend6657 posted on 22 Dec 2012, 08:19 1 0
Isn't the iPhone almost the same price as an high end android ? It's more about the matter of choice . Yup some apple fanboys are damn stupid but most android fanboys don't reason with you either
76. chaoticrazor posted on 22 Dec 2012, 08:27 1 0
yep the iphone is similar price to high end android, there are more expensive phones out there then the iphone too. its just a stupid comment off the apple trolls trying to act superior. and your right android fanboys aren't reasonable. they think there smarter then everyone who choose something else.
an example been ''troll' on here, sure you know him. he believes that all doctors and ceo's who decide to have an iphone are stupid and he is smarter then all of them...........its tragic this is the point the so called tech people have got to. fanboy central we need more moderators on here who know the ones who start the problems
78. thelegend6657 posted on 22 Dec 2012, 08:31 0 0
Actually most professional people I see is using Galaxy S here in Malaysia , but few years ago its all Nokia , blackberry and iPhone . iPhone and android , what's the difference ? They all works , just in different ways . My father just bought an iPhone 5 today , (he used to be a galaxy fan ) and he's very happy although he say some parts of iOS makes him miss android
79. chaoticrazor posted on 22 Dec 2012, 08:39 0 0
exactly every os will have its advantages over the other but as long as the user is happy thats what matters. there is no perfect os no matter how hard the android fanboys try to shove it down your throat.
im just suprised so far they havent swarmed in and painted these comments red

haha yeah there are some on here who are reasonable, although ive been labelled everything you can think of.

1.) Because we all know that iPhone does not > GS3
2.)Going on an Apple artical and saying that is just showing people the light from which they lack under Apple's dark cloud
3.)Apple fan boys just don't have the strength in their numbers anymore

i m not a fanboy or something. nor i m a sammy fan nor apple nor i m trolling lolz..

have a question, PA, do you think this would also be a problem to note 2? Note 2 and s3 have almost similar hardwares. I hope, this is an isolated case. for s3.
19. darac posted on 21 Dec 2012, 03:35 4 7
It's not a cheap plastic but a polycarbonate.
And if you really think this is ugly..
..your sense of beauty is very shallow and primitive
20. CanYouSeeTheLight posted on 21 Dec 2012, 04:02 8 1
Sorry, take a One X or a Lumia on one hand and a Galaxy SIII on the other and you will see what true polycarbonate with good construction is.
It is ugly, mainly all the people who i asked what they think about the SIII they told me it was ugly and some even answered it looked like a soap.
32. darac posted on 21 Dec 2012, 05:16 4 10
Those two don't have a thin, removable back cover, genius.
One x is just bland, unimaginative design that gets seriously boring after a while.
There's not a single detail about it that would stand out and intrigue the eye, unlike the profoundly and carefully crafted color patterns on the S3, and its unique design message.
At least you can see Samsung tried to make something special with the design.
Also the S3 is FAR more soundly shaped in terms of ergonomics than the One x.
It feels way nicer in hand.. the only thing that sucks about it is the sticky "hyper glaze" finish.
Besides, no one I gave it to, said it's ugly!
And finally, after you put a case on the device, does all of this really matter?
I put a case on every phone I have so design is really irrelevant after all.
47. cripton805 posted on 21 Dec 2012, 09:01 0 6
Im pretty sure the people that say its ugly are just trolling. Ive never heard someone say its ugly in person. Quite the opposite actually.
82. thelegend6657 posted on 22 Dec 2012, 08:50 0 0
The galaxy s2 is too slippery , that's why the s3 is sticky .

dont know why so much hate on that phone, its on par, if not better than the gs3
30. thelegend6657 posted on 21 Dec 2012, 04:45 6 1
Yup everytime my friend ask me is the GS3 the best android smartphone out there , I would disagree and say the One X is the best but it desperately needs some attention by smartphone buyers
33. iDroidWin posted on 21 Dec 2012, 05:24 4 0
For UI and design, HOX for me. For features, Samsung for me. But yes, HTC deserves some attention. However, they suck at post sale service. I bought Desire, didn't even get 2.3 update i guess, I had to root it. Works great though. One V, I got it for my girlfriend, she bricked it somehow. They were asking for more than half of the MRP for fixing it. Another one bought Desire C, now she isn't getting JB update. Recently, I wanted to suggest someone Desire X, but didn't. Coz I don't know when HTC can abandon their customers. So, I recommended Sony instead.
83. thelegend6657 posted on 22 Dec 2012, 08:52 0 0
Sony isn't doing any better at customer support (updates ) . However , my friend followed my advice and bought a One X , few weeks later he's having problem with the screen he went backs to the store and they gave him a new one on the spot
98. crazymonkey05 posted on 03 Jan 2013, 17:29 0 1
What are you talking about!!!! they gave all there 2011 devices a ICS update and 2012 JB the only 2011 device that didn't get it was the xperia play and that's because its a gaming phone and more gaming support was on gingerbread
