A number of PHOTON 4G smartphones have been reported to be experiencing the exact same symptom – when placing calls, the other party cannot be heard in the earpiece when speaking...

They already corrected this issue for me yesterday. They are pushing out a refresh as people call in to correct the issue permanently. Great phone by the way. Just a software issue.

I am experiencing the same problem. You called Motorola and they helped you? Or did you call Sprint?

I have this issue and it is definitely a PITA, but I can make phone calls with out them constantly dropping like the EVO 3D does. Rebooting does fix this issue.....I still like it better than the EVO 3D

I too like the photon. I am coming from the Epic and I really want to keep this phone and I am dealing with the issue for the moment but if it is not resolved soon I will return it within my 30 days. I have to reboot it at least 2-3 times a day because of this issue. Hope this software fix comes very soon.

My Photon is working great! I'm not a fan of Motos new 'blur' gallery set up, but I downloaded an app called QuickPic & that fixed that. I love the phone a lot. Now all I need is the Bionic next month & I'll have the two hottest phones on the top two CDMA markets.

Sprint told me the issue is a "known" issue and a "fix" will be available with the next software release. They were not able to provide a date when the "fix" will be made available. Their advice was to power cycle the phone to correct, which I find burdensome. Rebooting does fix the issue, temporarily. What a PITA.

I am not sure if I was clear to you guys in my post above. They told me they fixed the issue already. They are pushing it out on a call in basis at the moment, They have to refresh your phone by having you turn it off, take the battery out, wait 30 seconds and then power it back on. From thier end they sent me something and they said it was a permanent fix. I hope they were right. So far so good.This just was last night that they did this. Good luck!

If it really fixes your phone, please let me know in a few days because they did the same and had me do a factory reset and it worked fine for a while (the longest time since I had the phone) then started again.

I am a Motorola Photon user. I love this phone , Its the best but I do have the same issue .
I was told by a Sprint Tec to return my phone , It will not go against the 30 day return if the device has a issue . So if it continues after the return I will surely return it if they have not fixed the issue. Other then this issue Its the BEST.

i had the issue for the 1st time a couple days ago i just turned off the phone and it worked again..its still the best sprint phone out i luv it

Not surprising at all. out of all the Android turds out there, Motorolas are the absolute worst. Then again, they are well known for making s**tty devices.

lol right! I had Nextel phones made by motorola and when the buttons fell off they told me all i had to do was glue them back on since this was apparently the factor method...WOW! Not surprising they sent this phone out without the proper testing! Nice hardware though!

Both my sister and I have new Photons... and both of them have the problem. It almost ALWAYS happens after using Bluetooth. Rebooting the phones fixes it every time, but very frustrating. Sometimes it happens a few times a day. Mine got stuck in a reboot cycle for about 2 hours over the weekend.
Sprint told me an update is on the way....Motorola gave me some absolute nonsense about how much they care about and listen to their customers, but they didn't even answer any questions about the problem, both through chat and email support.
I love this phone....but Motorola may as well not even have customer service, they are completely useless. I really hope they fix it because this phone is awesome otherwise!

Paulyyd you trolling tool! The iphone 4 had that antenna issue when it first came out! You couldn't hold the phone in the palm of your hand or else it would drop signal.

i have had the photon for about to a week and have the same problem even after rebooting the phone sometimes it still doesn't work. thinking about switching to the evo 3d at least i known HTC is reliable.

I have this issue and returned 2 phones already. How could they not have known about this issue. I am sure someone tested it before release. This is like buying a new car where the engine wont start...WTF MOTO!!!!

I got a PHOTON the first release day and have been through 4 of them...kept thinking, and was told bad batch, but finally realized it was a huge production issue that never should have gone forth. ANYWAY, all we really need to know are the specifics on this thread. WHEN is a patch being pushed that will fix the problem permenantely if there is one out there at all and how do you get it - via the store or some other method? Thanks...loved the phone but won't go back until a permanent fix is out there. Power cycling is NOT a fix BTW!

Same problem here. With all the great things this phone is capable of doing I guess Motorola and Sprint forgot the most important thing....Making and Receiving calls!

Moto too has been acting up. Luckily for me I don't make too many calls and use it mainly for text and data. There have been a few times where this problem has proved itself pretty annoying, so I can only imagine how terribly inconvenient this problem. Would be for somebody who makes lots of calls everyday. Love my photon and personally have never had any issues like this with my past android devices. Anyone know if there is something better coming out though, that I would be able to trade my photon in to get instead? Evo 3d maybe?

I just got this phone 2 days ago It's a good phone, but the pentile screen has really been bothering me and the responsiveness isn't that great to finish it off the phone call glitch is annoying. It works after a reboot for a little bit, but then it doesn't work I'm thinking about returning it and wait for the Samsung Galaxy S2 or Droid Bionic.

Also, the Photon at least once a day does not wake back up from sleep mode. I hit the button on the top right, and the screen does not come back on. Checked all settings. This phone is buggy. I had an EVO prior and that was an amazing phone. HTC sense was 10 software wise. The Photon software wise is a 4.
