Some Galaxy Note II units are shipping without the split screen multitasking feature

0. phoneArena 02 Oct 2012, 08:06 posted on

Don't be surprised if your Note II doesn't come with the multiwindows mode that Samsung demoed recently. It allows you to split the giant 5.5" screen, and use it for two apps instead of one at a time, resize the space for each app, and so on. The applications are numerous, and take the Android experience to a whole new level...

well, i believe iPhone 5 has it's own fragmentation with apps, 3GS & iPhone 4 didn't get turn by turn navigation. original iPad didn't get iOS 6 even though it has the same specs as iPod 4th gen.

at least android does multitasking & no it isn't laggy

Poor Wendy, do you know what you're talking about? What's the problem of having a 2 GB ram? It has real multitasking features that's why it needs 2 GB ram unlike your iPhone it doesn't have and it has a lots of issues out of the box. Samsung can fix it by an update, does iPhone's problems can be fixed by an update? No!!!

Having your iPhone a new screen size, fragmentation just starting. You don't realize it? You're really a certified ifan, really! Enjoy your new app launcher, LOL !!!

OK, how about this.

1) so more can load into memory for smooth operation
2) its a performance boost
3) it future proofs it for at least a darn good while. It will be able to handle all future upgrades, apps, and games for quite some time.
4) it can multitask.... EVEN BETTER than before!!
5) because that big HD screen uses more memory and every app that is native 720p uses a lot more memory than lower resolution apps. Thus again, making performance better and more future proof.
6) because it can
7) because its not a rinky dinky iphone.
8) because size matters
9) because because because.. of all the wonderful things it does.
10) that way they can say it doesnt have less memory than the SGS3 korean super duper edition.
good enough?

define average customer

is an average customer someone who has alittle tech knowledge but maybe needs guiding on what to get

or

are you classing the average customer as someone like you- a mindless delusional fanboy who defends a company because in some sad way he thinks he's better then everyone who doesnt buy into that same company

People this feature is in the US NOTEII its already been tested Samsung Rep Brought the NOTEII inside a sprint store for employees to test drive it was the first feature many tested so don't worry it is definitely in the US model far as European maybe a software update will enable it...

Seeing the video in this article just reinforces my want for this device. I give until Feb of next year for somethings just good, if not better, to come out with a smaller screen size, but I doubt it. My main thing is that I'll be going from the Evo Shift with a 3.6in screen to this with 5.5in screen, almost 2in difference.

Right, like the Apple iPhone 5 did with the a lot of problems reported (Maps, Dents, Lights out of the chasis, Keyboard, etc.). They need first to fix those problems. And maybe, just mabe consider to enter in that space.

But to be honest i doubt it, just look a the video how advance and awesome is the note 2 with his software, iOS (even iOS 6) doesn't come with that kind of productivity.

For example what a pain is to in order to close a running app in iOS, you have to hold the finger inside the app to enable the closing buttons, why just they cannot put a swipe up? (There is a cydia tweak that enables this but you have to jailbreak the phone). If you want to increase or decrease the brightness you have to go to settings (Also there are a bunch of cydia tweaks for this) this applies to for wifi, 3g, etc.

i've an iPhone 4S, with iOS 6, i'm waiting for the jailbreak because i feel the device very limited in functionality.

1-Iphone has already been blown away so nobody is waiting...
2- You say fandroids always speak in the future but, ¿iOS maps are fixed now? ¿Dented chassis already solved? ¿light leaks maybe? ¿purple camera? ... I guess Apple Fanboys will have to speak in the future too.
3- Split screen doesn't need a fix, is a new software feature that comes with new firmware, and since it's new is not in all of the GNIIs produced. "Fix": as easy as install new firmware.
4-It's OK if you like apple products, but calling "the next big thing" a phone that has nothing special compared to other phones, is a joke. You can't say the same of the GN, which created the "phablet" category, that a lot of people like, as you can see in the comments, has a lot of functions associated to the S pen, etc.

1.- there always people waiting for the iphone, even if you can pre order.. they wait..
2.- there are always issues Android and Apple and any other OS has issues if they didn't they become stale,
3.- if it is so easy to fix why does it even become an issue then? or can you fix it since you claim is easy?
4.- for you the iphone is not special, but for millions it is, the GN caught people by surprise last year being a novelty, but knowing how fandroids are so impatient some already waiting for the Note 3..

mate you need serious help, what do apple usually do ohh yeah release a slighty fixed versoin of there previous average phone slap an 's' on it and you all cry how great it is

android is ahead of iOS its just fact , do you have multitasking yet? proper multitasking i mean

ohh and what about your apple maps i think your ''ohhit will get fix" line fits you well. just means apple fanatics have to wait like the good ifans they are, never upset your precious apple by having your own mind do you

just looking around. Apple hasnt been "big" since 2008 when 4+ inch phones came out.

Contrary to what your wife says to make you feel better.. 3.5-4 inches after upgrade is not satisfying.

see remix you are smart but making jokes about my wife is disrespectful because you don't know me well and only makes you sound dumb, but i like you so is cool but lets focus on the topic...contrary to what you say.. iphone is becoming bigger and bigger every year, breaking their own sales records. sales numbers unheard in the Android world, if Apple wasn't so big Samsung wouldn't waste their time taking shot at Apple on their commercials.. don't you think?..

Samsung just wants to inform ish33ps that iPhone is not the only phone that exist. There are lots of it including Samsung galaxy phones, which features and functionalities way far better than iPhone. Ifans don't have any other choices that's why they are forced to buy a mediocre upgraded iPhone 5. Besides mostly who bought iPhone 5 are same people who bought it 5 years ago. Agree? I'm sure you don't coz your die hard apple fan, pretty obvious.

really is that what Samsung is trying to do?.. because they release a device every 2 weeks, don't you think consumers know there are other choices..please walk into any store and I can see at least 15 devices minimum.. want to know what I think.. will tell you anyway.. is hard to digest that people can choose the iphone over a high end Android... must be hard but it is what it is and the best part that proves any of you haters out here wrong.. is the loyalty Apple has towards it customers and vice versa, but let's say we are brainwash ok. that is the easier than the truth..

According to forum reports over at Android Central, the cause of this disappointing issue is the fact that there is an older firmware version on some of the Galaxy Note 2′s. That said, if your international Samsung Galaxy note 2 comes with version N7100XXALIE, you will come to the disappointing fact that the multi-window feature is unavailable. On the other hand, if you are running firmware version N7100XXALIH, as many people are, the feature should be working as you would expect. You can check out what firmware version you are running by heading to Settings and then “About Device.”

Samsung hasn’t said anything on why some of these devices are on the older firmware, but it is very likely that Samsung will be rolling out an update to those that are stuck on the older firmware in the near future.

problem with android manufacturers are lack of tight cooperation to google as to how to make their upcoming phones future proof. i understand phones took months of development before the actual release so some might ship with ics and some gingerbread(i honestly believe gb is the most stable btw) same with google releasing a rather advance os update to the surprise of oem's that their previously released phones can't cope up with it. android is already miles ahead than ios imo, can they just cut the slack for a moment and focus and manufacturers to catch up? sometimes we need to slow down a bit

Yup this will be another launch day purchase for me on Tmobile. Just like the Galaxy S3 was this past June 21st. I love my Galaxy S3 but the Galaxy Note 2 is on an entirely different level. My current unlimited data on my Galaxy S3 will be exceptional on the Galaxy Note 2. Nothing will be the Galaxy Note 2 for the next 6/7 months.
