SmartKeyboard gives Apple iPhone users a thin, physical QWERTY keyboard

0. phoneArena 03 Sep 2011, 16:04 posted on

Inspired by the Smart Cover for the Apple iPad, SmartKeyboard is a physical QWERTY keyboard that uses magnets to slide on and off an Apple iPhone, offering a choice to users who are not terribly fond of using a virtual keyboard...

This has to be the most useless invention ever. Having to carry this around somewhere and stick it to the phone ONLY when you want to use the keyboard in portrait mode? Not logical and not a very bright idea.

It's kinda cool. Handy when you're doing IM or replying with a long email or blogging using your iphone. I also like it that you're able to use it as a stand.

I think this would be AWESOME if they figured out a way to make it so it would cover the whole back of your phone like a case, and always stay on, but flip down to work as a keyboard. And also make sure the added pressure won't hurt the screen.

I love it how people who think their into technology curse/ban anything they don't like. You do know there was probably a concept iPhone at one point you probably would have scoffed at...

Innovation is always good. You're only showing your level of intelligence by criticizing "innovation".

The greatest benefit of this keyboard is that you can type with your thumbs on a full touchscreen mobile device, like on a mobile device with a fixed qwerty keyboard. imo, typing with your thumbs is the fastest and most natural/ergonomic way to type on a portable device. A physical keyboard also enhances a better grip and control of your device.
I think this smart keyboard is a great idea an imo it actually can heat up the pressure on sales of devices with a fixed qwerty keyboard. Can we also expect one for Android devices or tablets?
So, here is the question for you: which device would you choose now: A full touchscreen device with this smart keyboard (like an iPhone4) or a device with a fixed keyboard (like the BB devices)?

Its a pretty good idea. As long as it has a good spot to put it when not in use or if i could slide it into jean pockets it should be cool . I would like to see this on a gaming lvl like mabey little physical buttons and super mini joystick you could place around depending on the game but who knows .. bring this to the 4.3 inch androids!
