I have the HTC HD2, and this happens constantly. The phone goes to sleep, and sometimes you can't get the screen to turn back on. This is either an HTC problem, or Windows Mobile. If it's an HTC problem, I wonder if Droid Incredible people see the same thing...and soon Evo would be customers as well? This is not good, for such really great phones.

No its not HTC, its Windows Mobile Phones... They are trying to jam pack WM phones with so much stuff but most phones don't have the Hardware it needs to run smooth. I used to have a WM phone back when it was simple, and i loved it, after the new stuff i.e. FB, Navigation, Myspace,Twiiter, TV, and etc the phones have really slowed down, so i left them and haven't looked back.

OMG! Since I updated to 6.5 it's been HELL. I used to love my touch pro2, now I freaking hate it. I can't even get a text in without it freezing up. I just got a brand new replacement and it's even worse. What the hell Microsoft, Sprint. HTC. Fix this shit.

I have a Tmo TP2 and once I "upgraded" to 6.5 the phone went to crap(6.1 already sucked tho) I ended up hacking the phone and putting a far superior Energy Rom on it. MUUUCH better. Freezes seem to be a requirement of the obsolete WM OS and I cant wait till there's a high end Android with a KB on magenta(Sidekick Twist)

Always better to hack your phone....my TILT I has a PHOENIX 3 ROM that emulates 6.5.

I've got a Sprint HTC TP2 with the 6.5 upgrade and have not seen this. But I've added a mess of other stuff, and you have to wonder if one of these is preventing this problem. Which would mean that it should be an easy software fix.

It does this sometimes for my Verizon version, I usually don't have to remove the battery though and it isn't often enough to bother me. I can usually get it to stop just by pressing the backlight a few times and leaving it alone for a minute.

I'm using a custom ROM (Mighty ROM), with C0okie cutter, and I'm good. I kept the WM 6.5 'official' MR for about two days before ROM shopping. No SOD for me unless I try to open the Windows folder using File Explorer. That can take a bit. Other than that, I'm good...

I'm on Stock Sprint ROM 6.5 Had the issue for the first few weeks after I upgraded. I was pressing the power button 10, 15 times to get it to respond, and then doing the battery thing. Thought I was going to toss my phone in the trash. But then, I found a website with this tip: turn off the "automatically adjust backlight" in display settings. It seems to work for me. Still not super happy with the ROM (it was zippy at first, but seems to be getting laggier and laggier over time) but much better than 6.1

I have the sprint TP2 and I've had this problem with both of the ones i got from them. With 6.1 there was no problem(just sucked ass) but a few weeks after 6.5 came out i was having all types of issues. the screen started glitching and was showing static or something then just went blank. I had to keep reseting the damn thing and eventually that stopped working so sprint switched my screen out completely(fixed the problem) but didnt put the hardware buttons in correctly and they felll off 2 days later. Also My Battery life is shot to sh!t. the phone used to go 17 18 hours of HEAVY usage now i can keep it in my pocket and it dies in 3 to 4 hours. I hope the EVO 4G doesnt have the same problems cause ima have to get a blackberry or something.

I have the Verizon version, and I get the problem all the time... it got so bad at one point, that I had to drill holes in my case to get to the reset button with the stylus (taking off my case and cover to get to the battery was too much of a pain in the butt)

Always check out XDA developers web page for ROMs to install on your WINDOWS and ANDROID phones. Carriers always butcher the phone ...and apparently, so do OS updates.

I am using a Sprint Touch Pro2 in the UK on O2. WM6.5 was great for a bit but has been getting slower and slower. Bluetooth had never worked in either with the error message "BTTray.exe is not a valid pocketPC application" on startup. I constantly get standby of death. It took a lot of toothpicking arround the screen to get touchscreen working after it failed. And, it reset my password foe me. Hard reset was the only option.

Answer to the Photon Sleep of Death!
The reason it's going into the sleep of death is because of the battery itself. For example, take of the back of the phone cover to access the battery, when you do this face the exposed battery down and you will see that the battery doesn't stay put, it moves slightly. This is what causes Sleep of Death!... only fix is to shim something between the battery and the cover. I used 1/16 thick tape (insulation tape I guess you could call it.. it has cushioning) I cut two 1/2 inch strips onto the inside of the cover itself, then put the cover back on... no more Sleep of DEath! I haven't had any problems with it since... or you could just return it for another one that doesn't have battery slippage issues.. but to me this fix is just fine I hope you guys get that taken care of peace
