Skype iPhone app passes the 1 million download mark
It seems there were a lot of people out there eagerly waiting for the Skype iPhone app to be released. For many, their wish came true last Tuesday when it was finally made available to the masses. One of Skype’s bloggers, Peter Parkes, posted that the app had one million downloads since its release. This translates to roughly 6 downloads per second! Quite an astonishing feat you may ask? This is definitely a win for Skype which will broaden its appeal. We’ll have to wait and see if the momentum continues to make it the most downloaded app.

BUT since this app now violates ATT new policy on streaming and voip, this app will also be the quickest deleted one in history since the usage of the app can get your phone turned off. Not that this bothers I Phone users since they dont really get to maintain any phone calls anyhow LMAO BB Storm FTW

I think you're the most annoying person on this site.

Amen How exactly do you think ATT will be able to track the use of streaming? Seems a pretty mild threat to me.

They actually recently released a statement saying the policy was an accident and have since removed that verbiage you are referring to...

Hey, does anyone have return rates on the iPhone? I know the storm is somewhere in the range of 33%........I bet my top dollar that the iPhone is less since the phone WORKS CORRECTLY right out of the box. (I should know, I sell the stupid Storm and I use a iPhone) Bugger off already Godfather.....and stop with the "BB Storm FTW" - thats something a tween would constantly post.

3. The Godfather (unregistered) posted on 04 Apr 2009, 11:34

yeah the i phone works great out the box....lets see, it couldnt activate when they first sold it, the browser shuts down whenever it wants, the phone drops more calls than ANY other phone on the market, it is locked down by Apple so you cant do all the 3rd party apps the storm can do....want me to keep going? and I phone is not BB so there for BB Storm FTW trentsinmypants = all around failure

4. trentsinmypants posted on 04 Apr 2009, 11:56

HA! You wanna talk about dropped calls? The storm cant even complete calls........and as far as 3rd party apps go, isnt the app store filled with them? That also brings up the jailbreaking option (which the storm CANNOT do, its completely locked down for VZW. The closest thing you have to a *hacked* BB is stuff from crackberry - most of those apps will void your warranty too!) If you ask me, the iPhone has more options then any BB storm on the market. Plus, didnt RIM follow Apple in hopes of riding on their coat tails with their own App store? It cracks me up that all these other companies are trying SO HARD to catch up to Apple. If the iPhone was never released, id bank on the idea of RIM never releasing a touch screen phone. Apple set the bench mark high.....now everyone else is trying to figure out how to cut into their piece of the pie......most of which are failing big time. Samsung Omnia comes to mind as one of the biggest flops from 2008 (with the storm closely behind)

yea but look at the age groups...i bet you see tons more business people with blackberrys than iphones. an iphone cant replace a blackberry. plus whenever i go on crackberry.com with an iphone, the browser shuts down. gay...

Oh yah, i've looked at the age groups. The iPhone ranges anywhere from pre-teens all the way up to grandparents.....the iPhone has a much wider customer base then BB. BB tends to be more for business people then anyone else. (mainly due to the fact that the normal customer will tell you that you need a Ph.D in order to understand how to use the storm) The storm is so damn confusing for customers that VZW has to hold WEEKLY training courses at their retail stores in order to keep the return rate as low as possible. iPhone = WIN BB Storm = EPIC FAIL

every phone has an age range like that dude. im talkin about the majority of people who own an iphone are NOT business people. its not confusing if you are willing to learn about such a great phone and are interested in the features it holds. it is no more "confusing" as you say than anyother blackberry. BLACKBERRY FTW

Doesn't the Apple Store hold classes about the iPhone and other Apple products? oh no! ppl want more info on how to use these tools.. what will happen next?

13. Dood posted on 05 Apr 2009, 13:20

The thing is, the people who can't use a blackberry are the same ones that can't drive a manual. People give up too easily. I have customers in thier late 80's showing me new apps on thier bb's all the time. All it took was 30 minutes of showing them how to work it. When you sell a phone and kick the customer out of the door, of course it's going to be returned. It's not about the phones being better or worse, as I have a lot of customers telling me how much they hated the iPhone and would rather have a "real phone" from a "real company". What are MY BBStorm return rates? I sell AT LEAST 5 a week, and I don't sell phones that I know are going to get returned.

14. E.N. posted on 05 Apr 2009, 17:28

Sorry but why isn't iPhone a "real phone"? And just because you don't expect the phones to be returned doesn't mean they won't be. You don't work for Verizon 24/7 so you font know.

Back to the topic.... good for skype.... good for iPhone.... blackberry will have it soon too.... everyone calm down......

15. E.N. posted on 05 Apr 2009, 19:51

I agree we should get back on topic, which is about iPhone and Skype. But skype coming to blackberry really has nothing to do with the article.
