the beginning of the article is right. love it or hate it Siri was a game changer that will only get bigger and better, but I want Siri to be like the Screen that used George Jetson at work... with a face

He's right. Apple provides great ideas to work on. But their products are often outmatched by rivals.

I don't think it was a game CHANGER, but a game evolver. Voice control and search preexisted the program, and apple reduced its functionality, but made it somewhat more comprehensive by tying it into a more interactive program for the entire device (Nuance may have also done that, I'm admittedly not familiar with the original iteration). It's still a flawed program and system, but it (and its rivals, notably Google Now) have much potential.

Agreed, what Apple often does well is marketing, like Siri it's a voice control functionality with a name. Same about Retina res. But essentially there's nothing new about it.

If there was nothing new offered google wouldn't have bothered to make changes to google voice so quickly.

Give credit where credit is due...Voice actions falls quite behind Siri. Google now is much improved

Siri is awesome. Google Now is awesome. While iOS users are going to have both, poor Android users unfortunately won't be able to choose.

Google improves voice search not b-c of Siri, Google does not make voice search to tell jokes like Siri but to do serious searches. It's much more intelligent, more accurate and way faster than Siri.

and Google Now is completely new frontier of AI and there's nothing like it anywhere.

That doesn't change the fact that iphone will have both options, while androids won't.

I don't think Android users miss Siri, Siri can be fun initially but becomes redundant soon after. Siri is just a gimmick.

the last bit isnt oddly feasible. you can do all the genetic playing you want. until you find a way to keep radiation, free radicals (which are random electrons without a proton (which would be H when combined), as well as the destructive effects of the food we eat, air we breathe, carcinogens, nitrates, sulfides, so on and so forth... your not going to see major jumps in the age anymore. Maybe one of us will see 120-130.. but you will be a brittle arse bag of bones if you do. Even if you can slow down natural Programmed Cell Death and all the crap i just mentioned (as well as a lot I didnt like cancer), you may slow down aging, but it wont be much more than we have now. Things degenerate regardless due to time, wear and tear, ect. Your knees are not built to last 130 years lol.

Hell, I dont want to live that long. Life is important because its short.

Too right, people forget we start to die the moment we are born

Google voice search and Siri, it's heaven and earth. And Siri, a half baked product, is available on some few selected iOS devices only while Google voice search is available to every1.

A game changer? Wooooooooh! It was a gimmick, more or less, but it worked in a sense that it kept the iphobes coming back for more. With the amount of iPhones out there I've seen used, never once I've seen siri put to work. Now the iPhone 5 has smaller charger pin, BIG DEAL! Universal USB is smaller. An extra mm or two screen! Whoopy! We already have phones with bigger and longer screens! oh well, the tech and media will jump all over this like it was some God send thing. Sad.

15. rusticguy posted on 01 Sep 2012, 08:43 1 1

Media will jump on anything that they are PAID to jump for. They are as corrupt as every other corporation on planet.

Apples got the money. Now those folks that camp out weeks or months prior to iPhone launch, I wonder if they're paid to do that. It is a very effective way of advertising.
