Apple has filed a patent application with the USPTO for a process which would allow Siri to sort through your pictures and find the one you're looking for. The patent, titled ""Voice-Based Image Tagging and Searching," describes using "natural language" text strings to tag a picture on an iPhone. Those wanting to call up a specific picture could ask Siri to find the photograph by talking to the virtual personal assistant and mentioning a specific name, location or an activity...

Now they want to spy on what kind of dirty pictures you're taking. I'd say still invades privacy. And enough already with patents.

Nothing isn't worth patent by Apple

IG, if you had 10% of the brain capacity that regular people have, you'd know Apple how stupid your comment was. Why do you even still come to PA...?

Facial recognition has been used in photo software for some years now.
As much as Apple's legal department wants you to think they come up with new scary ideas, the scary ideas are quite old.

You know, I was thinking once, "Wouldn't it be a totally innovative idea if we could speak and translate that to text and then tag things?"
Then I thought, "No it wouldn't. Text to speech is older than I am, and a patent for this concept borders on insane."

Inb4 Samsung or Apple patents removable backs or "specialized slot for insertion of expandable memory" - better known as SD card slot!
Nah, I kid! That's never gonna happen.

Not sure exactly how this would function, but I think it could potentially be a really cool idea. I take a lot of photos with my phone (it's the primary camera for a lot of people nowadays), and I'd love to just say something like "find the picture I took of the cliff overlooking the beach in San Diego." I would definitely use that.

My guess is apple saw this in use somewhere already, and are trying to claim credit for it.
