For the past 3 years, we ve been listening to the same song by fanboys like you. Each year, Samsung and Apply get mightier, and we hear about profit losses from other OEMs. It has the same design as the One, and last year the S4 proved that design isn't a big factor for the majority of buyers. Numbers don't lie troll.

He thinks because he sees a couple of fanboys filled with irrational hatred for Samsung and same irrational love for another OEM, that he's in the majority. It's quite sad. Neither of these phones are going to be breaking any records;

Put your money where your mouth is. I'll put a 1k on Samsung selling more S5's than they sold S4's. I'll put 10k on Samsung having the best selling Android phone of 2014.

Just because a company have mote sell does not make them the best. Justin beiber must be a god in the music industries.

There are always exceptions but yes, sales usually are good indicators of quality.
Sales are certainly better indicators of quality than hopeless HTC and Sony fanboys that have an irrational hate towards Samsung.
Actually, I guess it is no irrational since it is human nature for you to hate the company that is going to bankrupt your chosen company. Lol
79. ngo2dd (Posts: 896; Member since: 08 Jul 2011)
So Apple make the best phone then? You have no ideal what you are talking. Take a marketing class or something because sale is one of the worst indicators of quality. Samsung font have the most popular phone but it does not equal quality. Marketing is one of the best factor in sale. That is why Samsung spend the most on marketing. They spend more the coca cola and Apple by billions.
85. Taters (banned) (Posts: 6474; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
I am a marketing major and marketing is a much worse indicator of quality than sales.....lol you HTC fanboys are hilarious.
I didn't say sales were the ONLY indicator of quality, it is just a much better indicator than say you.....
99. ngo2dd (Posts: 896; Member since: 08 Jul 2011)
LOL marketing major, you are funny because you are lying. Sale is only indicators of quality if everything is equal but is not. Guess what restaurants have the most sales in the world? It is McDonald and you are telling me that sale indicat has the best quality. No let look at other factors like they have more location, they are cheap and they make money on volume. Samsung shipped around 312m smartphone in 2013 and a total of 446m phone total. That mean the S4 was not the majority of the sale of Samsung. The low end was the majority of the sale for Samsung. So you tell be that the low end phone of Samsung is better quality then the high end. Dude you are full of it
102. PapaSmurf (Posts: 10457; Member since: 14 May 2012)
For the S4 selling over 45 million of the 312 for all models you allegedly say, that's pretty damn impressive. That's over 14% of all smartphone sales of the year. Compare the sales of the S4 to every model they've sold, 14% > all others.
You're bad with arguments. Just go home and face defeat lol.
103. ngo2dd (Posts: 896; Member since: 08 Jul 2011)
312 m is just Samsung not all smartphone. Total smartphone is over 1.2 billion, it not 14 % of all smartphone sale. Did you not read my post? I said Samsung sale was 312 million not total smartphone. So only 14% of Samsung smartphone is the S4 that mean the other 86% is low end or last year model. That just show that is sale was a total indicator of quality then the S4 would be the majority of total sale but is not. Boy let me go to McDonald because they have the most sale, so they have the best quality food. /s
112. PapaSmurf (Posts: 10457; Member since: 14 May 2012)
Noticed how I stuck to Samsung and not global. You forgot the Note 3 and S4 Active. Do you know how to read? Bump that 14% number up and you'll get a number close to 20%, which is about 1 in 5. The S3, Note 2 and S4 siblings are not low end at all lol. Last year's model? Sure, but still capable phones. Nokia's success is based off the 520, so does your statement apply to them? LG sells more low end than high end. Sony does the same. HTC does the same. Hmmm... Definitely sounds like everyone else does too, no?

There you going be clueless again. You have the most pathetic and weak arguments that it is not even funny. You bring up really poor arguments that are not even proper comparisons like yournMcDonalds example when you do not even know how to properly compare things.
Using statistical analysis you can only directly compare things in the same category. So if we were to use your McDonalds argument that holds no water to what we are discussing btw, then yes McDonalds is an indicator of quality compared to other fast food restaurants. If we compare McDonalds to a fancy 5 star restaurant that wins a Michelin star then of course McDonalds is not the best food. Since the price range is entirely different and one restaurant caters to an entirely different market.
However, when you make a valid comparison, meaning the price range is the same and you are comparing fast food restaurants with other fast food restaurants, then yes McDonalds being number 1 is an indicator of quality.
As far as the rest of your weak and invalid points. Again, you can't compare flagships with low end phone sales. But when you compare flagship vs flagship sales. And low end vs low end sales. There is a strong correlation between sales and quality.
If you knew anything about statistics and marketing then you would know sales is a decent indicator of quality. Of course with you being clueless, you do not realize this and you don't know what the hell you are talking about.
106. ngo2dd (Posts: 896; Member since: 08 Jul 2011)
So it want from good to decent. Sale alone make no indicator of quality because there are more factor involved. If everything is equal then yes sale is a good indicator of quality. But guess what? It is not sale is how much product is sold. Let compare gaming console the Wii sold 2X the amount of the Xbox 360 and ps3 and they are same category. So you telling that the Wii was the best quality of the 3. You know what the biggest factor that effect in this case ? The price of the Wii was cheapest. Sale will not be a good indicator at all because the Wii had the worst GPU, GPU. And the lowest Ram. But sold the most, how is sale alone show the quality of a product with know the price the marketing and brand recognition. You are one that don't know what the he'll you are talking about. Sale is worst indicator because market change over time.
108. Taters (banned) (Posts: 6474; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
Lol there you go being clueless again. The wii is not in the same category as the XBOX 360 and PS3. One like you said yourself, the price bracket is not even the same. Two, the wii hardware was much weaker than the other two which gasp, puts them into a different category. A lower end category. Three, the wii was marketed as a family console while the other two were more for geeks and all in one entertainment systems. Four, the games are entirely different.
There you go showing your complete ignorance with weak arguments again.
Sorry but the fact is that sales is a good indicator of quality when you make a direct comparison between competing brands. Those are facts.
Also no one said that sales were the only indicator of quality. I said that it's a good indicator and there was a strong correlation. Completely different than what you are trying to argue that I am saying.
I can own you all day. You don't know shit about business or marketing and it shows,
109. Taters (banned) (Posts: 6474; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
I am tired of owning you all day so I am just going to end it. Here you go. There are plenty of academic articles linking sales with quality.
Here is one and you can find plenty more.
Once again, I am not saying that marketing does not play a role. It is just a much less significant role than quality.
Yes the human mind can be swayed by marketing and influenced by public opinion. However, when people buy a product, especially an expensive $700 phone, they tend to research and buy what they LIKE and think is a good value. Which means they buy based on quality. Yes marketing can make them think that they are buying quality, that is the entire point of sales but which is stronger. Obviously quality is the better indicator. If the product isn't quality, only the best salesman and marketing department can salvage it.
Game over clueless boy... Haha

Complete rubbish. Toyota corolla is the most sold vehicle in the world. It isn't the best car in the world. Fast food sells better than Organic. Doesn't make French fries the best food in the world.
92. Taters (banned) (Posts: 6474; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
Lol actually. Dollar for dollar and pound for pound the Corolla is probably the best car in the world. Why else do you think people keep on buying it? It is not marketing.
People buy it because it gets you from point A to point B hassle free. Doesn't cost you a fortune and lasts you at least 20 years.
People buy Galaxy products for a similar reason.
So tell me, why do you think people buy Corolla's? Marketing? Lol the only rubbish is what is coming out of you and ngo2d's mouth.
98. ngo2dd (Posts: 896; Member since: 08 Jul 2011)
Because the corolla is only around 17k which cheap for a car. It is has not been car of the year in a long time. You are saying the corolla is better then the Camry because it not. The corolla is it low end car. The more you talk the more it show that you have no ideal how business work. If marketing is not important or a small factor then please answer why Samsung spend 3.6 billion dollar more on marketing then R&D?
107. Taters (banned) (Posts: 6474; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
Lol you are really uneducated aren't you. See my above reply to you. I am not saying the Corolla is better than the Camry. I am saying it is a better value, which it is. And when you compare cars within the same class, the corolla sells because it's a great car. It sells because it is a quality car in its class.
The Camry is in a higher class but of course you are too stupid to realize this and try to compare it with a Corolla.
For our purposes, we can only compare things that are in the same class. Meaning we are comparing the Galaxy S, LG G, HTC one! and Xperia Z series. This has nothing to do with low end Samsung phones that sell more, Corollas, or McDonalds that have no relevance here. When comparing items in the same class, sales and quality has always had a strong correlation. This is especially true when comparing flagship and high end items. Of course you would know this if you had any clue at all about business.
And to answer your question. I didn't say marketing never helped so I am not required to explain anything. You are the one that said sales has nothing to do with quality so you are the only one that needs to support their weak theory. Samsung is probably one of the only mobile companies that spends more on marketing than R&D btw so that is just an outlier and not he norm. So obviously most companies think R&D is more important and academia supports that. Of course you just can't admit that people buy things because they, gasp, like them and want to buy them. How clueless can you HTC fans get...sigh...
100. PapaSmurf (Posts: 10457; Member since: 14 May 2012)
Notice how you only compared it to the S4 and no other phone model because no other phone model can surpass or meet the sales a Galaxy S can lol.
105. ngo2dd (Posts: 896; Member since: 08 Jul 2011)
The iPhone 5 sold 89 million. No other phone my butt. No other android phone yes we all know that but the iPhone kill the S4 in sale.
113. PapaSmurf (Posts: 10457; Member since: 14 May 2012)
Is that an Android phone? Nope. Try again.
44. amats69 (Posts: 1461; Member since: 12 Nov 2012)
Irrational hatred huh? Then pls explain your "irrational hatred" towards htc...
75. Taters (banned) (Posts: 6474; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
There is no irrational hatred towards HTC. If they were even half as superior as the fanboys say, they would be in a much better position through word of mouth alone. Everyone including Apple and Samsung start at humble beginnings. If HTC can't ever break out of these humble beginnings! then it is most likely the product at fault here.
HTC just sucks. No irrational hatred. If your bad you are bad.

If I got paid for how many times my name has been said in the past three days, I'd be rich by now you know that, right? Why do you feel the need to use profanity against someone else? I reported you for it and really hope you get banned this time around. Get off the internet, get an education, and come back when you're ready to have a discussion like a normal person. Can't even act civilized without adult supervision... So sad.
