Server side update to bring a new search interface to the Google Play Store?
A server-side update appears to be scheduled for the Google Play Store. A new card-based interface will be added to the store's search featrure, and apps that show up in the search results will get large cards resembling their preview page. From the cards, the app can be installed or uninstalled. A description of the app is also included. Most people are going to go to the preview page anyway to learn more about an app before installing it, so this is a welcome change if it does take place.

As we said, this update should take place behind the scenes, so don't expect to receive a prompt to update the app. So far, it doesn't seem that the new feature has gone live, and there is no word on when it will launch.

This might save users a click because they will be able to see a box with the preview information for each app that shows up in the search results. Previously, users would have to click on the results and then click to install; once the update is available, Android users will be able to go from the search results directly to installing the app.

As soon as we learn more this update, we will pass it along to you. Stay tuned!
