0. phoneArena 02 May 2011, 13:38 posted on
An internal memo for Best Buy reps reveals that the retailer is starting today to take pre-orders on the HTC EVO 3D; since there is no promotion for the device, the only way to reserve your EVO 3D from Best Buy is to walk into the store and tell the rep what you want...

can someone confirm if this is really true who lives near a bestbuy?
2. Indoc (unregistered)
Phil Nickinson at Android Central claims to have confirmed this. I will be going to Best Buy this weekend myself to verify.

good deal, I just feel a little nervous about preordering a phone that i don't know the full price on. i'm cool as long as its not more then 300, how much did you have to put down for the pre order?
9. BBYM (unregistered)
Yes this is true. It can be pre-ordered though there are several details we don't know about the device... hence why it was an INTERNAL memo. We don't know the price, we don't know the date, we don't know how many we will get on launch, if any, and we don't know if all stores will carry them in stock.

Saw this at CTIA. Not that big of a deal. After a couple of weeks I would get bored. No content and you have to look at it straight on in order to get the 3D effect. No need for 3D in a phone.
15. jsobotka (Posts: 39; Member since: 21 Aug 2009)
You 3D-naysayers are funny... 4.3" 960x540 S-LCD display, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon, 1GB RAM, 1080p video recording...
You saw this phone at CTIA and thought it was not that big of a deal?
Take away the 3D, and you'd be raving about it right now.
Besides, aren't you the guy that said 10 years ago that there's no need to surf the web from your phone?

I agree, the specs are where its at, this phone seems to have it all, including 3D. But how fulfilling is 3D on 4.3 inches. If you ask me, I would rather watch it on my TV.
17. jtjacks1 (Posts: 4; Member since: 15 Dec 2010)
Pre-ordered mine today as well. Just make sure you have $50 to put down. They put the $50 on a gift card and give it to you, and you bring the card back when the phone arrives.
18. bconnley (Posts: 2; Member since: 20 Apr 2011)
I don't get too excited about specs. Oohhh, 1.2 GHz dual--core snapdragon (I'm not running autocad on my phone so it doesn't really matter. Let's face it, most people use their phones for email, browsing the web, and maybe playing a game once and a while if they are nowhere near their tablet, computer, PS3, WII, XBOX or whatever. The current 1GHz processor runs the phone just fine. I don't like the fact that you can't watch video that you recorded from your phone in 3D without sending it to a 3D capable TV and even when you do that you're watching it at 720p, not 1080p and you need the goofy glasses to watch. Watching 3D content on a 4.3" sceen isn't all that cool. I think I would feel silly, awfully silly if people were watching me sit there like a goof ball watching 3D on my phone. Don't get me wrong, this will be a nice phone but don't get too excited about the 3D or you will be let down.
19. Johnabis (Posts: 57; Member since: 17 Feb 2011)
Dude you don't need glasses to watch 3d content on the phone! do some actual research before you post something like that
25. damienh28 (Posts: 49; Member since: 23 Dec 2010)
and on top of that you can watch in 2d fag

I agree. The only reason I'm interested in this phone is based on the display screen has qHD and a slightly faster than the rest processor. I'm about ready to upgrade from my Pre and I am coming to the realization that HP isn't going to release the Pre3 to Sprint as I have not heard even a slight bit of info about it.
I was thinking of just getting the evo & although. I've heard nothing but good things about it I fear in a year it will start to show its age. I want a phone thatll be able to standup to at least the next year and a half of continuous competition.
Plus the bigger screen for web browsing isn't to bad either. :)

Yeh, honestly, the 3D part is kinda stupid to me...Im more so moved by the upgraded features, processor, resolution, battery, Sense, 2.3 Droid, etc.

Yes it's true,I went after work. I was the first one on the list.

What if we are using our SPRINT UPGRADE to obtain the phone...will we be getting it cheaper compared to best buy????....
26. heyitzme (Posts: 87; Member since: 03 Jan 2011)
If you get the phone less then retail at bestbuy then you are using your sprint upgrade. And pricing details haven't been released for the phone yet so noone knows if the cost purchasing through a sprint store will be more or less then the cost at a bestbuy.

Hope a GSM version of the HTC EVO 3D will be available "this summer" too.

I'll wait till the real Sprint stores get it to buy. Why buy a phone from best buy? What if I need help with it. I am sure they no didally about it they would just send me to the local Sprint store, than the Sprint store wouldn't want to help me. Best buy and radio shack are really screwing people here.
36. SprintAndroid (Posts: 5; Member since: 15 May 2011)
Hello Zay!!! There is ample benefit in getting the phone from BestBuy...although I’m pretty happy with Sprint...I’ve purchased my last 2 phones from BestBuy…I prefer their customer service and insurance. I am not familiar with RadioShack.
Last month, I got the Epic from Best Buy, 2 weeks later I did the wireless update which crashed my phone so returned it and they gave me a brand new one out of the box. I then took the 2nd phone to Sprint to have them do the 2.2 droid update, as they claimed it crashed because I did it wirelessly, 24 hrs later it crashed again. I returned the phone to BestBuy and they gave me a brand new EVO with no argument, no questions, no complaints, no problems. Sprint WOULD NOT have done that, they would have tried to “fix” it endlessly!!! Their customer service and insurance policy ($10 a month) out weights Sprint by far. If anything goes wrong with the phone and they can’t fix it, there’s no deductable and they give you a brand new phone, not a refurbished one like Sprint does. The only thing is they don’t cover lost or stolen, which I don’t personally have an issue with. BestBuy will price match while Sprint refuses and will waste your time and money with mail-in rebates.
As well, the sales associates at Best Buy know a lot more about the phone than you think. The store gives each associate 2 phones of their choice to use as their own so that they have experienced users helping you, in addition to trained personnel (Geek Squad). As far as going to the Sprint Store for help, whoever your insurance is through after the first 30 days will help you; during the 1st 30 days you have to return to the merchant who sold you the phone. Last but not least, they also have a buy back program for those that like to upgrade their phones regularly, Sprint does not.
Try it one time…I bet you will never go back to Sprint…at least not to buy a new phone. I liked the EVO 4G, but I returned it to BestBuy when I found out about the newer version…I just prepaid for the EVO 3D last week :o) Enjoy!!!

cool how much does this cost? but im wondering y lg never avertises as much i think if they advertised it it wud get a lot of muny .

Thanks for the heads up, I pre-ordered mine today.
The $50 pre-order gives you a $50 Best Buy gift card which you can use any way you like, so if you know you're going to spend $50 and Best Buy eventually, the pre-order is essentially free.

or just put it towards the cost of the phone o.o
33. laura rodriquez (unregistered)

ok people i am no geek when it comes to electronics so please direct me towards my best options....i have had many many many phones and only liked 2 out of all the ones i have had one was an LG flip phone many moons ago and the other a pocket pc and i could never find one which was compatable to those, now i have the evo 4g and need to update so what is compatable to it the google phone or the epic??? what do you guys suggest?????? i like the resolution on the epic but like the slimness on the google but heard the 3D one was supposed to be GREAT do i wait or do i just go with one of the other ones???? errrrr tough choices
41. NN (unregistered)
bebe go for htc evo 3d, its nice phone. I cant believe I saw it for 495USD(unlocked version) on ebay, but just one piece, I was afraid because the seller is new and I get doubt that he might be fraud =(, plus there is no facility to ship it outside USA. Hence I cannot buy even if I wanted to take risk =(
42. NN (unregistered)
htc evo 3d = ver good resolution only not as good as iPhone 4. You may need to compromise for slimness though, but look at other features : price = low , came = 2 with 5MP each capable of 3d video at 720pt HD and 2D with 1080ptHD resolution, 1.2GHZ processor, its very cool.
Google nexus S does not have radio, SD card slot, I would definitely buy it otherwise, becase display is good - Super Amoled (it was more better if Super amoled plus)
if you have money and dont care abobut 3D then buy the samsung galaxy S2, all features + good display but no 3D =(
43. NN (unregistered)
To think again , the phones I would buy -
Samsung Galaxy S -> if they add gyro sensor , i dont care about a little increase from current price
Samsung galaxy s2-> if i had enough money to buy the unlocked version
google nexus s -> if there was at least radio in it, i dont care much about absence of SD card slot, because we get access to google apps which is above all =)
htc evo 3d -> I will definitely buy this, the only think I am sad about it is it has S-LED, its better than all LEDs but contrast is not as good as super amoled/plus.
i want to see aphone in market with following minimum spec :
1 GHTZ processor,6-axis gyro sensor(maybe more here hehe (= ),3d-display, 5 MP cameras(because larger MP will only make file size larger, 5 is ideal),4G,wifi,bluetooth, Radio, 8 GB internal mem, sd card slot, hdmi port, super amoled plus with retinal display resolution of 330dpi (or more), display screen size 4 inch minimum, 5 inch maximum
Thats all =)

They are not activly displaying any signs but if you walk in an ask, they will gladdly let you know that you can pre-order the EVO 3d. With the released date of June 24th now, they are more actively trying to get customers to pre-order it.
