Wow Motorola really blew it this time. They have delayed this phone far to many times now my eyes are set on either the sgs2 or the next iphone. Most likely the sgs2(:

Pushing the release of the Bionic is only going to hurt its sales. In September both the Samsung Facinate 2, and the Iphone 5 are expected to launch. Why wait until that time to also launch a device? Let's see, the Fascinate 2 is identical to the Bionic, except has a better screen. So people who love Android and are on Verizon will choose the Fascinate 2 over the Bionic. So people who don't love Android, won't buy anyway. Motorola is really good at doing the opposite of how to really blow away the competition.

The SGS2 for Verizon has a wider display with super amoled plus. And it won't have that crappy Pental(sp) display that Motorola has been using. It kinda beats the whole purpose of using QHD on their displays when the pental makes everything so pixelated. The SGS2 will have a much faster processor, better battery life, a better camera, and will probably be cheaper.

I am waiting for confirmation on 4g...

Personally I don't care how big or cool the screen is without 4g.

The only thing that really bothers me about my droid is internet surfing, 4g will solve that.

A bigger screen will be a bonus no matter what I get.

You will care how laggy your phone is. I don't care if your webpage loads 3 seconds faster than my 3G phone. But when you actually try to use your phone and it lags like crazy and freezes and crashes all the time. LTE won't make that a difference maker.

The SGS2 will be the best and most powerful phone on the market despite if it has LTE or not. It does not lag like the Bionic will, the Photon included as we have already seen. The SGS2 is the only android phone with a dual core processor that truely feels like one.

that's not like you to be completely biased like that RORY. sure the Galaxy S II will be great but the verdict is still out for the Bionic. for all we know the delay could be so Motorola can upgrade it to the 1.5GHz OMAP4440, you just never know and even if my speculation proves to be false the Bionic will still at least make one hesitate before getting a Galaxy S II.

i think i was waiting for both the bionic and the SGSII to come out and compare them in store before i actually bought the bionic...and found i dont like it, and are stuck with it for 2 years. so in a way, i think my descion making for the SGSII was made easier. this upgrade has been urging me to just ugrade to anything...even the droid pro. HA! but seeing how the SGSII will hopefully be out within the next few weeks...

I've been a longtime fan of Motorola, because I've found them to have the most reliable phones when it comes to reception, call quality, and what not. That said, the delays on the Bionic are inexcusable.

The Bionic must have gone through months of development if it showed up at CES in January, yet they couldn't figure out that the phone had overheating issues and poor battery performance? I can understand it took some time to redesign the phone but what is taking so long?

The Photon 4G for Sprint was announced in June, and is already being shipped for some. What is the deal here? Does Motorola not care about its reputation? I realize by most accounts the Bionic will be better than these, but the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S II have far more publicity and selling power. If Motorola waits too long, the Bionic could flop simply due to more famous competition.

HTC and Samsung are not sitting idle, and probably have something very exciting to drop around Christmas or in Q1 of 2012. If Motorola gets too caught up in one or two devices and can't speed up the process, I have doubts to their success.

I want to have faith in Motorola, and yes they have a hit with the Droid 3, but they need something new and innovative to refresh their image. My guess based on the quickness of release for the Photon and Droid 3 is that the issues with the Bionic have been largely due to the LTE chipset.

Verizon's 4G lineup is sad really. Amazing data speeds, but utilized by phones with 2010 specs, 2010 average size, and pathetic battery life. Whichever manufacturer can fit an LTE phone into a smaller, sleeker dual core form is going to have an edge on the market.

Yeah, you can always count on Motorola or VZW to push back a release date long enough to make the phone obsolete. If this were coming out tomorrow, I'd be all over it. By September I,ll be eithe using a GS2 or looking for something new by HTC. Good luck with it anyway Moto.

Motorola and Verizon should just say, "Right now, we don't have the technology to build a great dual-core LTE phone." and just get on with it. By the time this comes out, (if it comes out), it's going to be a mid-tier phone that Verizon is going to charge most likely $299 for. This is how the conversation at Motorola Headquarter in September is going to play out...

Exec: Why isn't the Bionic selling like it should?
Janitor (only person at with Motorola common sense): Well you do realize that the iphone 5 is coming out, and the SGII, the world's 2nd most widely sold phone, is coming to the US very soon?
Exec: Where did you get this information. Do you know people with inside trade secrets?
Janitor: Ummm.. No, it's called the internet, you do know the consumer is no longer the idiot you think they are, right?
Exec: psssh... Whatever. They'll believe whatever we tell them to believe, because I make money and bonuses even if the company sucks wind...

You know maybe we should be excited about a september release, perhaps (doubtfull) they have really made some huge improvements and the the improvements that they have made are leaps and bounds above the competition (fascinate 2 and I phone 5) 1.5ghz dual core processor 4.5 inch screen built in oral stimulator who knows, however short of these things I think the bionic and motorola are in trouble, because many including myself will wait a bit longer to see what the competition comes out with and make my choice then.

well there goes my plan of returning the Droid X2...anyone want one for say...$400-450?

we might see the kind of improvments Samsung has taken time to make with the Galaxy S II. faster processor, better screen, better LTE technology, it's all very possible.

I'll buy it for $250.

Look on ebay, they go for $360 USED, not brand new in box. $400 is what they go for.

Phones are nothing like cars.

I got my Incredible on the day it came out, sold it for the Inc2 a few months after it came out and got $250 for it. Considering I got it for the $200 upgrade price, things went well.

But nice try trying to make a quick $150 ;)

*sigh* Moto. I love you. I love your products. In fact, I bought the Atrix because of my love for you. But September is just barely inside summertime. In the eyes of your customers, it's been one f**k up to another.

I really hope the Bionic does well for you, Moto. But you need to not do this to yourself. You either need faster turnaround on your products or you need to stop announcing them before you've figured everything about the phone's performance out.

I'm still rooting for you, Moto. But your recovery is dangerously close to falling apart now.

It is rather unfortunate. When this phone was first announced it was amazing sounding. Note that every other carrier out there has phones with better specs than this was announced with and lower prices than what is expected of this it just seems pointless. Even the photon which is believed to be the same specs is coming in $100 cheaper than this us expected to be.

Maybe if all these dinera rumors turn out to be the bionic it'll be worth it but how it seems now even if it did come out today it would just be an average higher level phone. Nothing groundbreaking like it was supposed to be and what ask this hype was built around.

How much you wanna bet that it will still come out with a locked bootloader while SGS II will be unlocked and highly customized like the original SGS?

I think the only thing that can kill the SGS II at this point is not having LTE. It's doubtful iPhone 5 will, from what I've seen. Moto better be hoping Samsung doesn't fit LTE in it or they'll be in a world of hurt.

This made me laugh

"The people affected the most are those who took a flyer on the Motorola DROID 3, thinking that if the Bionic launched on August 4th as originally expected, these people could return the DROID 3 with no penalty and exchange it for the LTE enabled DROID Bionic."

In short you got F**ked enjoy your non LTE device. Not that anyone cares but suck on you for whining on how much your droid x sucks. I've had the unfortunate pleasure of being stupid and swimming in the ocean with a newer HTC TP2 phone and had to resort back to an vx6800. So kiss my ass when you cry about having your your crappy android phone for one more month. ill wait and be happy because ill be going from a commodore 64 to a Alienware PC. Happy Friday

dude...this phone was supposed to be released 7 months ago. people have sat on their upgrades for months waiting...for most people who write, they are obsessed...so something that comes only every two years if you dont have the money to buy full retail every two months when a new phone comes out...hearing news like this is just like slap in the face. people are moving on because who wants to wait for 7 months of out dated equipment. sure they redesigned it and maybe added and subtracted a few things...but the technology in the coming phones in september are already better than the bionic...no matter how "up-to-date" they say it is. SGSII is barely overclocked over the bionic...for some, thats a deal breaker. and to others...they could careless.
