Samsung's takeover of Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5 was blown out of proportion

0. phoneArena 17 May 2014, 15:10 posted on

On Friday, we told you about Samsung's plan to takeover Terminal 5 at London's Heathrow Airport for two weeks. According to the original story, starting on Monday, Terminal 5 is supposed to be transformed into one giant ad for the Samsung Galaxy S5 with changes made to all digital screens, and signs so that they all will be promoting Samsung's flagship phone. The terminal itself is to be renamed "Terminal Samsung Galaxy S5"...

More they like they over-exaggerate their press release and technically LIED to everyone to create hype. Typical Samsung.

Or maybe that was the plan until everyone freaked out and complained, so Samsung pulled back and scaled down the promotion.

"After the U.K. press complained about the promotion..."

I wish the US press wasn't the docile little servant of the corporations. Not that the UK press is some paragon of independence and ethics. But the US press is just so fascist that it's laughably tragic.

God, looks like Sammy's got the world under its thumb if they can influence the neutral stance of the press.

Having the press revolt against you is the exact opposite of having the press under your thumb.

I think this whole news of confusion has done more marketing in UK then the actual ad campaign itself.

Does everyone hate Samsung that much that they automatically jump to the worst case scenario?

Heathrow is a FANTASTIC airport. Good Samsung didn't completely ruin a part of it :)

I had to stop there 3 times in the past 4 years, and every time I step there I feel like I am in a big jungle, I almost missed my plane last time I was there, and to make it worst, British airways lost my daughter's stroller. Anyways, anyone with a little bit of common sense would've realized that there is no way on earth a terminal would be renamed for couple of days.

Lol....how could you get lost for British Airways flight there is just one terminal (5) for BA. Enter the gates take a train to terminal thats it. :/

BA uses 3 too. If I remember right, terminal 3 is for inside European flights and 5 for longer distance. At least that's how it was for me last summer.

But yeah it's almost impossible to get lost the routes are so well marked. All the walls and floors in the routes connecting terminals are in purple it's just so easy to follow

I've been there twice and I was always so impressed by it. It's so clean and modern. And although it's one of the biggest airports in the world, I have never seen so quick security controls and everything was just so well organized. It might be the best airport I've been at!

I am not saying it sucks, of course it is one of the best, if not the best, I am just saying what I experienced. When I finally found my flight, they actually made us (me, my wife, and lil daughter) pass immediately without waiting since we have a baby with us.

lmaooooo. I would imagine you walking in, imagining sony ads and pics everywhere along with angel-ish light coming from above and calm opera music, then devilish SAMSUNG ads appear with metal music and a pigeon sh*ts on your head. what a life ey?

Emm, that would be you, right? Just the other way of course. I'm not such a die hard fanboy as you hapoen to be. I would prefer an airport with as little adds as possible, and from as many different companies as possible.

lmaoooo ohh yes I could notice that. spamming every Samsung article and being a butth*rt. And you say you're not a die hard fanboy? heyy did you get your Z2? ah never mind maybe when Z7 shows up next year.

... You're brain power keeps on surprising me. You know there's a clear difference in being a fanboy of a certain company and not liking all of a certain companys products? I'm not butthurt at all. Instead I'm happy with what I have.

I'll get it tomorrow or Tuesday. I would have gotten it already, but apparently the carrier messed up my order.

If Apple did this at Heathrow planes would collide and digital screens would short-circuit, thereafter, Apple would release an official statement insisting that, "there is nothing wrong, you're just flying the wrong way!"
