the larger screen is indirectly confirmed already, while making it still fit in you hands. swift and fast --- quad core.

and that's the minimum. SAMSUNG'D. Can't wait for May 3! I'm repeating the video over and over again looking for hints, like what happened with the S2.

19. KaynEKH posted on 23 Apr 2012, 06:38 5 1

I'm afraid it was obvious that they wouldn't show a damn thing. With the May 3 event, they wouldn't reveal their precious on a mere website.

20. 0o0blackstar0o0 posted on 23 Apr 2012, 06:44 4 2

Why a countdown for a teaser .... W..T..F who makes these decisions at Samsung ..

21. kshell1 posted on 23 Apr 2012, 06:46 4 2

Its a hype thing lol. Screw apple being great at building up hype, this is just unbelievable.

38. paynekiller posted on 23 Apr 2012, 08:04 2 1

countdowns to teasers actually happen a lot in the tech world. I've seen a couple video game publishers put up a countdown site, then only show a teaser when that is done and we still dont know wtf they are working on

41. kshell1 posted on 23 Apr 2012, 08:13 2 1

I know but samsung is doing everything, videos, locking their phones in steel boxes, covering it up in blue cloth with may3rd on it, leaks all over the place etc lol

BEST COMMENT!!!

too bad the rest of the android users on this site don't see that this phone has turned them in to sheep as well...

its like we all forgot how android operates... this phone will be replaced by another android phone "moto, htc, samsung" within the next 3 or 4 months... this is the nature of android...

you guys are bragging over this phone like this phone will last as #1 for two years. as much as we embrace new technology and better specs we'll forget about this phone in 6 months tops.

52. Carlitos posted on 23 Apr 2012, 09:56 1 1

chances are this phone wont be replaced by another phone for a while. Look at the SGS2 for example. It didn't really meet its match until the end of 2011, when the Motorola Droid Razr came out. And the SGS2 came out about 8-9 months before.

But yeah people are becoming sheep over this phone

54. frydaexiii posted on 23 Apr 2012, 10:12 1 2

Please, the Razr doesn't beat the SGS2, there are still aspects of the Droid Razr other than size that doesn't beat the SGS2.

And you're not a sheep if you follow a phone, you're a sheep if you still go bat s**t crazy over a phone with outdated specs and minor upgrades. If Samsung released the SGS2 Skyrocket as the SGS3 and we still go crazy for it, then yeah, feel free to call us sheep, if not we're just fans who can't wait.

89. mrochester (unregistered) posted on 23 Apr 2012, 17:10 1

It's interesting to note the apparent double standards at play here. Apple users waiting for the new iPhone are "sheep", but Samsung/Android users waiting for the new Galaxy phone are "just fans". I think you should quit while you're ahead and just accept that either both groups of people are "sheep", or both are "just fans".

91. frydaexiii posted on 23 Apr 2012, 20:59 2

Dude, read my damn comment...What double standards? Samsung did not release the SGS+ as the SGS2 right? That's the diffrrence, Apple can release such a minorly upgeaded phone as their next big phone and people still go crazy for it, they are followers and sheep. If Samsung had released the SGS+ as the SGS2, rest assured even the Samsung fanboys would rage. They wouldn't switch their mindset just because apple says so

92. eaxvac posted on 24 Apr 2012, 01:14 1

lol an s-sheep trying to make an excuse

93. mrochester (unregistered) posted on 24 Apr 2012, 01:54

I don't see any difference. All iPhones have been a big step up in hardware to the one before. In fact, I'd say that the smallest jump in spec was between the original iPhone and the 3G. All Apple did there was add 3G and modify the design of the device. The 3GS introduced a more powerful CPU/GPU/RAM and better camera. The 4 introduced a more powerful CPU/GPU/RAM, camera, design and screen. The 4S introduced a more powerful CPU/GPU and camera.

So I don't think we've got to a point yet where we can see the effects of Apple releasing only a "minorly upgraded" phone as it hasn't happened up until now. The nearest you're going to get is to look back at the iPhone 3G.

27. mrochester (unregistered) posted on 23 Apr 2012, 07:08 4 7

Obviously the irony of switching from being an "iSheep" to a "Galaxy Sheep" is lost on Samsung. They are certainly hyping this thing to the stratosphere. By all accounts, that means the S3 should be a huge flop since Android users don't seccumb to hype or marketing in any shape or form... Or more realistically, this will be exceedingly popular because it's being hyped and marketted like crazy.

29. protozeloz posted on 23 Apr 2012, 07:24 4 2

Well galaxy has become a really popular brand, its probably the most selling Android smartphone right now. Can you explain how this could be a flop? The biggest lack Android has to produce more sales is better marketing. You are right geeks don't listen to marketing they look for specks so far S3 has them. Marketing us for the average guy . The guy that wants people to ask then what phone is that .and the average user that looks for something they like. Differentiation is something even Nokia mocked other users with its beta test thing. Its because people don't want to have what everyone has. And if the phone I saw was the closest to the final unit it will have an unique look .

So can you explain the flop?

33. mrochester (unregistered) posted on 23 Apr 2012, 07:36 1 4

Apologies if you are not a native English speaker, I was in fact being sarcastic. The point I was making is that Android devices aren't exceedingly popular because of some inherent pro of the platform (such as specs or being "open"), they are popular because they are hyped and marketted to the hilt, just like the iPhone is.

I also don't agree that geeks look only at the specs. I'm a geek and I certainly don't just look at the specs. The hardware specification of a device is but one of the many different facets of a modern smartphone. You need to consider all facets before deciding what to buy, not just one.

37. remixfa posted on 23 Apr 2012, 07:52 5 2

advertising isnt even on my list of reasons to buy something. I dont watch regular TV (netflix only..FTW!), so im not innundated with commercials

Specs (processor, GPU, Screen, camera)
battery
reliability
openness to hardware/software hacking

For the last 2 generations, samsung galaxy has lead in all of those. The SGS2 is the highest scoring android phone there is, and both the SGS1 and SGS2 are the highest selling android phones in existance.

It is safe to say that they are the "apple" of the android world as far as hype goes. But unlike apple, they bring huge generational leaps in power along with the hype.

63. mrochester (unregistered) posted on 23 Apr 2012, 11:01 1

I'm much the same in that I don't buy anything based on hype or marketing; I buy things on the merits of the product itself.

Apple usually always bring big changes with their hype, and it's usually in the shape of both hardware and software experiences. I think it's remiss of you to suggest that Apple haven't brought anything beneficial to the market. The original iPhone itself, the App Store, the iPad, high resolution "retina" displays etc, are all generation leaps that Apple have brought to the market.

Thinking about it, I'm actually less aware of what "leaps" Samsung have actually brought to the market. In fact, I can't really think of anything that Samsung have done in recent times that has shaped and directed the entire market.

68. mrochester (unregistered) posted on 23 Apr 2012, 12:18 1

As a reply to myself, the only trend I can think of that Samsung have started in recent times is the trend towards ultra-large screened devices.

77. protozeloz posted on 23 Apr 2012, 13:16

there is also the 7' tablets and the camera's on tabs to mention something else

81. remixfa posted on 23 Apr 2012, 15:10 1

that would make you a fanboy the mrochester.

big changes from apple?

Retina display was made by LG. Apple just marketed it for them.

All that glorious hardware that makes the iphone and ipad so smooth? Made by Samsung.

Who makes that wonderful ipad3 screen? Samsung

Apple is not known for big changes. They are known for incrimental changes. They are known for being safe with their upgrades and not taking chances on new technology. They are not normally first to a new technology (retina was one of the few). They are known for ease of use and a perceived quality.

Yet, none of the stuff, save retina, was new from apple. They did what they did best.. took existing technology and put it out in a different way.

Dont confuse apples massive hype machine and brilliant advertising with bringing new things to market

85. mrochester (unregistered) posted on 23 Apr 2012, 16:51 1

I think you're perhaps confusing invention with innovation. They are 2 different things. You don't have to invent something to be innovative. You've even said it yourself in this very post '...took exisiting technology and put it out in a different way.' That is innovation right there!

42. protozeloz posted on 23 Apr 2012, 08:15 2 1

What I mean by specks is that users look for many aspects of a device before buying, not advertising.

Also I disagree Android has the worst advertising system I've seen . Have you seen a good commercial lately? A commercial showing what the device does .they are rare

64. mrochester (unregistered) posted on 23 Apr 2012, 11:09

I think most users probably go for the device they think looks nice (this is the unfortunate reality and sorry state of the market).

The devices I see advertised the most are Samsung Galaxy phones. I remember one particular bus stop billboard extolling the "magically bright" screen of the SGS2 (or something to that effect) and I immediately thought that Samsung must have been following the Apple bible when they devised that advertisement!

76. protozeloz posted on 23 Apr 2012, 13:06

I still think Samsung is way behind when it comes to AD campaign compared with apple, also was the sing an ATT sing or did it belonged to Samsung, that could be a good question.

average consumer wont do their homework because they aren't tech savvy, whey don't check details well look forward to because they don't know anything to being with.

I´ll give you an example, while I´m a mobile Geek and use lots of car analogy I don't know a thing about cars, if a car says it saves money per galon I´ll get that over a car that does not save money per gallon but I don't care that I save 10 more cents with another car, I dont care that your AC reduces 90% of bacteria or that it has built in GPS to me a car is a car, it moves me from point A to point B with the least number of issues as possible. I don't care that your car shape makes it more efficient, but if I like the shape of a car I get that shape. why because I just want a car.

same thing happens with people they don't want to do lots of research to buy a device, the screen is nice? the phone is fast? many apps and games? how good it is? SOLD to the point android police tried educating people after seeing T-mobile selling a crappy LG phone for $89 and recommended the Galaxy smartphone that was $79 where it was different? the galaxy was faster and overall better but I know people who bough the LG device, lucky got them to change their minds and have them changed for a better phone
